I would ignore any poll taken at a "conservative conference" of any kind. In my experience, the people who attend these conferences have a complete disconnect from the voters who elect our politicians. Case in point: Donald Trump finished #8 in the 2016 CPAC straw poll among Republican contenders.

Several years ago, Gov. Scott Walker was the Republican to beat. IIRC, by the time the actual election cycle started, Walker was out of the picture -- didn't even enter the Republican debates.
This early out, wannabes and their sycophants are throwing names around, hoping to catch fire. Mid-summer NEXT year is when the names really start to mean anything. The Republican primaries/caucuses start in late January 2024.
