[history]
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claimed another clean win over former President Donald Trump in a recent straw poll of self-identified conservative conference-goers who were asked who they'd like to be the 2024 presidential nominee.
The poll was taken during the Western Conservative Summit, held in Denver, Colorado, on June 3 and 4. According to its website, the summit aims to "motivate those conservative activists who are in the trenches, to convene and network together, and to educate on key issues, both equipping volunteers as well as training a new younger generation of conservatives."

I think DeSantis give us a better chance of winning in 2024, and winning is my top priority. He gives us the MAGA policies, and the ability to get things done, without the sharp elbows and abrasive language. I don't mind Trumps style but many women and independents do, and we need more than the conservative base to win. The other thing about Trump that gives me pause. He was the victim of fraud in 2020, but he can't get over it. He will dwell on it when voters want our current problems to be addressed. The media know that and they will bate him - and he will take the bate every time. One more thing. He needs to check his ego and stop the vendettas against Republicans. When he recently said that he thought Abrahms as the future Gov of GA would be OK with him.......that was it for me. He should remember Reagan's 11th Amendment - Republican shall not speak ill of other Republicans. I voted for him twice and would do so if he gets the nomination. But I would like to see him step aside. I think people are a little tired of the drama.

Trump is getting pretty old! He will be even older than Alzheimer Joe in 2024. (78 I think)

I would ignore any poll taken at a "conservative conference" of any kind. In my experience, the people who attend these conferences have a complete disconnect from the voters who elect our politicians. Case in point: Donald Trump finished #8 in the 2016 CPAC straw poll among Republican contenders.

Will the democrats give DeSantis the Trump treatment ?
To: Oak007
Who took the poll?
Unless I read the article too fast, it makes no mention of that.

I hope this sort of thing doesn’t provoke Trump to go on the attack against GRDS.

I’d rather have DeSantis stay in FL and President Trump take another 4 in the WH...
THEN have DeSantis run in 2028 and take over from there

DeSantis will last six months in office before he gets tagged with the moniker "George W. DeSantis" here on FR. The guy is an establishment Republican from top to bottom.
He'll get my vote if he's the nominee in 2024, but I will have absolutely no enthusiasm for him.

DeSantis is not running
Fr readers repeatedly falling for this ruse it’s the third time I’ve seen this headline in the past day
It is a divide and conquer ruse
The press does this. They love these guys and leave them alone until they really run
As soon as DeSantis announces the press will make him look worse than trump to all trump haters.
Use some imagination and memory

And Romney won the straw poll several times.

Trump all the way. The only chance for justice and redemption is Trump winning in ‘24. So screw all of you move on from Trump losers. FOAD.

First 70% over 67% is not a trouncing. Second, because voters could vote for multiple candidates this only shows that there are never trumpers even in more conservative sections of the party.
There are libertarians who hate Trump's economic policies and there are prigs who don't like his over-the-top style.
That's all that this straw poll shows.

The CPAC straw poll, I meant.
To: Oak007
Trump got 74,000,000 votes in 2020, 74,000,000 votes. That was a landslide victory in any nation election without the massive fraud. By the time 2024 rolls around what state will this country be in? I think the American political system as a free, democratic system is over. It doesn’t matter who wins what any more. We are headed for rough times.

Oak007 has been with us since May. He is a disruptor troll.

71.01% of voters, while Trump received approval from 67.68%3 percentage points is not "soundly". What the true significance of this "poll" is that both are extremely qualified and popular candidates.
