Commander of the Russian Federation’s twenty ninth Army, Lieutenant General Roman Berdnikov.

Commander of the Russian Federation’s twenty ninth Army, June 6th, unconfirmed reports state top Russian officer, Lieutenant General Roman Berdnikov commander of the 29th Army, serving as Second-in-command of the 1st Army Corps, Donetsk People's Militia was killed in Ukraine this morning in Severodonetsk, Luhansk, Ukraine. He now is the most recent death of highest-ranking Russian generals.

Russian state television confirms that Major-General Roman Kutuzov was killed in eastern Ukraine June 5th, reports the Reuters news agency. The report did not provide more details and the Russian army did comment.

These senior commanders were killed during heavy fighting in eastern Ukraine, where Russian forces have been stepping up assaults on the key city Sievierodonetsk, in the Donbas region.

These two are the most recent Russian generals killed in Ukraine, reports say, adding to the string of senior military casualties suffered by the Kremlin.

Russia officially lists military deaths as state secrets even in times of peace and has not updated its official casualty figures in Ukraine since March 25, when it said that 1351 Russian soldiers had been killed since the start of the Ukraine invasion on February 24.

The UK Ministry of Defense said that Russia appeared to have suffered SIGNIFICANT LOSSES amongst mid-level and junior-ranking officers in Ukraine.

Well said. I’d rather be hated by Putin and his contemptible coterie of paid trolls and homo fanbois than be horrified by the thought that such scum might like me.

Why don’t you go volunteer to die for Putin?

It may well be that NATO targeting support is aiding in the location and executuion of the Staff officers in Ukraine.

Another explanation is that the Russians find themselves at the the wrong end of the morale chain. Motivating reluctant Russian soldiers apparently requires the active participation of Colonels and Generals to lead their troops in to the field. This is where front line troops discover that a live grenade in the General’s command car will earn them a quick ride back to the rear areas for new leadership. I think that the ubiquitous “Ukrainian Ambush” is really the Russians fragging their own officers, hence the shortage of colonels and generals at the front..

Just opening the door to the possibility.

I am not sure it is a good idea to kill Russian generals. They might be replaced by someone competent. Additionally the Ukrainians might be taking credit for something Putin did himself.

Hmmm lets see which “filth” to support??

I will go with the “filth” that has indoor plumbing, including flush toilets, central air, good paying jobs, and the ability to hold a sign saying “Lets Go Brandon” without being hauled off to jail.

Yep, fragging is a definite possibility. Morale seems to be rather low on both sides.

“I think that the ubiquitous “Ukrainian Ambush” is really the Russians fragging their own officers”

“on June 5, Kutuzov gave the 1st and 100th Brigades a suicide order to storm a settlement in the Donetsk region.”

“Kutuzov Died in The Area of Nikolaevka Settlement”

Nikolaevka Settlement looks to be over 20 miles in the rear from the front lines, which would clearly look like fragging over the suicide order. The report below puts it at the similar sounding Mykolaivka, which would be on the front lines, where the fighting was hot and heavy (which would make a Ukrainian kill more likely).

The “New Voice for Ukraine” reports on Yahoo News (https://news.yahoo.com/ukrainian-military-eliminates-russia-major-130500057.html):

“Ukraine Army’s Center for Strategic Communications, or Stratcom, confirmed reports about Kutuzov’s death in Ukraine late on June 5.

“Exclusive. You’re welcome. ‘Commander of the 1st Army Corps (orcs) of the ‘DPR’ (’Donetsk People’s Republic’), Major General Roman Kutuzov has been officially denazified and demilitarized,” the Ukrainian military said.

A few hours earlier, reports about Kutuzov’s death in Luhansk Oblast of Ukraine, where the most intense fighting is now taking place, appeared in Russian public and media outlets.

According to these reports, Kutuzov (nom de guerre “Tuman” (”Fog”)) probably died near the village of Mykolaivka in the Popasna district of Luhansk Oblast. This settlement is located not far from the Bakhmut-Lysychansk highway, which Russian troops are trying to take control of to cut off part of the Ukrainian military units near Severodonetsk.

On June 5, Luhansk Governor Serhiy Hayday said that Russian commanders had received the task “either to completely capture Severodonetsk by June 10, or to completely cut the Lysychansk-Bakhmut highway and take it under control.”

“Therefore, a huge amount of forces, everything that the invaders had, all the reserves have been thrown at these two tasks,” Hayday said.

Kutuzov was killed in this area.”

The “Minsk Accords” don’t say what you Putinists claim they do.

And the Soviet Union/Russia has never obeyed any promise to anyone (except the one to invade Poland together with Nazi Germany and brutally take half the country).

#13. A free WordPress site, to a Patreon clone, to pay to read a letter that is in the public domain, by Putin's co-President? Hmm. The entire post in Spanish is at Comunidad Saker Latinoamérica, de odio, "on hate". Orlov and The Saker have the same world view. I should have guessed that was the case.

Medvedev ignores that the cause of the sanctions on the Russian people is the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian destruction of Ukrainian cities and turning 1/4 the population into refugees. He does not mention the word Ukraine once in this letter, that according to Orlov, is reflective of how much of Russia thinks. By his words and actions, Putin has made it clear he wants a second CCCP/USSR.

Every former Soviet client state in Europe who are now NATO members back Ukraine. Russia lied to its soldiers to get them to cross the line of departure to invade. The Russian government and people have no right to act innocent at the U.S. and European response to their actions.

The problem with many of us Americans is we form our opinions based on an exceptional blend of fake news and old black and white John Wayne movies.

#17. If Russia did not invade Ukraine then Russian Generals would not be killed there. That this fact is a hole in the discussion amuses me. Compared to the U.S. and NATO, the Russian army has leadership issues among NCOs and lower ranking officers. Russian Colonels and Generals are running coordinated tactical operations at the front lines because they have to, not because they should.

The Russians are trying to capture Severodonetsk, where Berdnikov was killed. As has been the case since the invasion started, Russian high ranking officers are at the front lines. Ukrainian soldiers are looking for the Russian officers who act like they are the ones in charge. Finding and taking out those officers is one of their high priorities. This warfare and soldiering, is not spy novel stuff.

#55. “There is no pravda in Izvestia, and no izvestia in Pravda.” - “There is no truth in news, and no news in truth.”

That joke goes back to at least the 1930's.We can get information from all sides and have freedom to discuss, agree, or disagree with Biden's policies in Ukraine if we want. In Russia it is illegal to oppose the invasion. No matter how bad the U.S. press is the Russian press is always worse.

By your logic, I guess the USA should have nuked Russia because Russia supplied weapons to the Viet Cong.
