I've heard all about the "systemic" failure to have integrated radios, and I'm not buying it. A remotely competent Chief would have recognized that as an issue the moment he was aware of the situation at the school, and immediately directed someone to coordinate communications so he was in communications with everyone. His failure to do that is completely on him.

I challenge anyone, anywhere to find me a police department that doesn’t issue rifles, allow personnel to carry their own, or have certain personnel on duty that has them.

Someone want to bring up NYPD. Go ahead. They have an army of cops, ESU on duty 24/7 all over they city and the Hercules Teams that are armed to the teeth. Argument over.

Even the small town I’m from on Long Island, the local cops have rifles.

So a school district with a grand total of 4100 students has an independent police force. And the chief of that school police force is somehow in command over ‘real’ police and sheriff deputies when a murder enters one of its schools and starts killing people.

The city, state and federal cops have to be prepared to deal with deadly criminals. His cops have to be prepared to break up playground fights. Why does his being in charge seem absurd to me?

What Police Chief does not have his radio with him?
Arredondo should be flipping burgers, not leading a police force.

This is so tragic, and so many children are dead, because of this comedy of errors. It’s no laughing matter, but the police response seems to have been a farce.

Sure looked to me like the murderer walked through an open door.

Problems can’t be fixed if people try to cover for a teacher.

Every day it’s something new. The door was propped open. No, it wasn’t. The chief knew about the children’s desperate 911 calls. No, he didn’t.

Now it’s the chief didn’t even have a radio. Maybe tomorrow we’ll hear that the chief had a radio, but it wasn’t set to the proper frequency.

It sure looks like they’re deliberately trying to sow as much confusion as possible.

I see the photos of Arredondo with 4 stars on his epaulets then I read he school district PD has 4 officers. So he decided he should have one star per officer. I guess if he had more officers, he’d look like a North Korean general with medals reaching the ground. SMH…

The guy’s not a LEO, he’s a bureaucrat.

Above all else, the bureaucrat’s primary directive is CYA.

One look at the picture of the Chief and you recognize that he is nothing but a lardass incompetent buffoon never to be mistaken for a competent LEO.

I would like to hear from the 19 officers in the hall. Did they concur and honestly believed they had the shooter contained in an area where all the damage was already done? There were over a hundred shots fired BEFORE they arrived. Or, were they agitating to go in? I’m seriously curous. What did it look like on the ground? Keep hearing about 911 calls but were they from the classroom where the shooter was or were they next door?

Arredondo failed the kids and two teachers when his community needed
him most. He failed the leadership test.

Arredondo is a blithering incompetent fool. Many lives could have been saved but they bled out because of him. I just read that the police held the parents back at gunpoint. This is totally unbelievable. Therefore this POS was sworn in as a city council member and will become mayor of Uvalde in short order. Anywhere else he would have been put in prison by now. This is beyond incompetence and corruption, he is a criminal.

That’s a nifty trick.

Assume the Incident Commander role without communications.

Doesn’t matter how many times the narrative gets changed to lighten the disgust of this Police Chief because every time something is added or changed it still makes him look like a incompetent moron.

Shouldn’t even matter. Officers who entered the building had actionable intell and should’ve been on a tactical autopilot. Senior command had no business making any tactical decisions.

Sounds like “putinesque” C2I.

The only order that should have been issued and followed was “let’s roll” by the lead man in the stack.

The Uvalde/School district LE command climate must’ve been very centralized for 19 officers in the building to not act on their own initiative based on real time Intel.
