Russia may be in Ukraine to stay after 100 days of war
AP News ^ | June 3, 2022

When Vladimir Putin sent troops into Ukraine in late February, the Russian president vowed his forces would not occupy the country. But as the invasion reached its 100th day Friday, Moscow seemed increasingly unwilling to relinquish the territory it has taken in the war.

The ruble is now an official currency in the southern Kherson region, alongside the Ukrainian hryvnia. Residents there and in Russia-controlled parts of the Zaporizhzhia region are being offered expedited Russian passports. The Kremlin-installed administrations in both regions have talked about plans to become part of Russia.

The Moscow-backed leaders of separatist areas in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region, which is mostly Russian-speaking, have expressed similar intentions. Putin recognized the separatists’ self-proclaimed republics as independent two days before launching the invasion, and fierce fighting has been underway in the east for weeks as Russia seeks to “liberate” all of the Donbas.

Gee whiz, the Associated Presstitutes are trying to rehabilitate their "credibility" and trickle in reports that Russia is there to stay in the Independent Oblasts.

What remains to be seen is if the conquered areas remain as puppet states, or if they are absorbed directly into Russia.

Russian troops will be in there for quite a while. And they will have to deal with a low level insurgency for many years. They have a blood feud on their hands now.

Invading Ukraine has cost Russia dearly. Remaining in Ukraine will cost more.

Meanwhile Russia will bleed her military white and China will eye Siberia with covetous eyes.

Anyone who thought they would just leave is a fool, but then again we are talking about the Ministry of Propaganda and the fools who listen to them.

So all the killing in the Donbas since Nuland and the US backed color revolution and coup in 2014 was not a blood feud?

Russian puppet officials will have shorter lifespans than anti-cartel mayors in Mexico.

Like in Crimea? Why do you think people are lining up for Russian passports in Kherson? Incomes are twice to three times of Ukraine in Russia and the consumer prices are half of Ukraine.

Highly Unlikely. Maybe there will be infiltrators from western Ukraine, but not the locals. These areas were culturally Russian, and always supported the Pro-Russian parties in Ukraine. Remember, they declared independence from Ukraine, and have been under attack since 2014, from the Maidan-Coup government in Kiev. The Pro-Russian locals in Luhansk and Donbas government/militias running the show know who doesn't support them, who waged war against them, and if those people haven't been driven out already, those people will be paid back

People apply for Russian Passports so their property will not be stolen. The Russians steal everything including real estate, condos, dachas, businesses, and garden plots. Why don’t you ever tell the truth?

Awesome. They can all move to the motherland utopia of milk and honey. Maybe NATO can help with the airlift or provide extra busses.
