President Biden: What America Will and Will Not Do in Ukraine
New York Times ^ | May 31, 2022 | Joesph Biden

Posted on 06/02/2022 11:22:01 AM PDT by Widget Jr

The invasion Vladimir Putin thought would last days is now in its fourth month. The Ukrainian people surprised Russia and inspired the world with their sacrifice, grit and battlefield success...

As the war goes on, I want to be clear about the aims of the United States in these efforts.

America’s goal is straightforward: We want to see a democratic, independent, sovereign and prosperous Ukraine with the means to deter and defend itself against further aggression....

That’s why I’ve decided that we will provide the Ukrainians with more advanced rocket systems and munitions that will enable them to more precisely strike key targets...

We will continue cooperating with our allies and partners on Russian sanctions, the toughest ever imposed on a major economy. We will continue providing Ukraine with advanced weaponry....

We will also send billions more in financial assistance, as authorized by Congress. We will work with our allies and partners to address the global food crisis that Russia’s aggression is worsening. And we will help our European allies and others reduce their dependence on Russian fossil fuels, and speed our transition to a clean energy future.

We do not seek a war between NATO and Russia. As much as I disagree with Mr. Putin, and find his actions an outrage, the United States will not try to bring about his ouster in Moscow. So long as the United States or our allies are not attacked, we will not be directly engaged in this conflict, either by sending American troops to fight in Ukraine or by attacking Russian forces....

Ukraine’s talks with Russia are not stalled because Ukraine has turned its back on diplomacy. They are stalled because Russia continues to wage a war to take control of as much of Ukraine as it can....

It doesn’t matter what he said or wrote because 1) he will change his mind tomorrow or 2) he won’t remember what he said or wrote.

Why would we rebuild Ukraine? We didn’t break it. We have our own problems in America that need to be Joke’s first priority, FFS.

I've seen no evidence that Russia went into the conflict expecting anything but a campaign lasting months.

Right. All those hundreds of destroyed vehicles and thousands of Russian dead around Kiev, Cherniv and Kharkov were just clever feints.

How long would it have taken if NATO were not supplying Ukraine with armament & money? They never mention that part at all. It’s always the brave Ukrainian resistance, who eventually become fodder.

And good ole NorseViking said at the early stage of the WAR that Kiev would fall within days. Ukraine has corruption like our government has but give the cossack heritage its due. They are punching above their weight class and killing heaps of Chechens and Russians.

Men fighting for their homes, especially given the credible reports of Russian atrocities, is a powerful motivation. Putin has achieved the miracle of convincing most of the Russian speakers in the east to think of themselves as Ukrainians and persuaded the Finns and Swedes to join NATO. Genius! /s

Exactly. He didn’t decide on anything. The feckless old man who sits slack jawed sucking on his teeth while the sorority girls scream at reporters who are trying to ask him a question isn’t deciding anything.

Im backing Putin and I have backed him from the very beginning. Russia is not my enemy. The US Government is my enemy. I will say it again in case you missed it the first time:
Russia is not my enemy.
The US Government is my enemy.

I agree with you. Oligarchs in Ukraine and the US will pocket a bunch of the money.

For example, a company will win a bid of $200 million to re-build something. It will actually cost $50 million. The remaining $150 million is divided up and pocketed among the politicians and Oligarchs, etc.. Some will be paid in kick-backs.

I’d say it’s likely that America will re-build Ukraine while Europe watches.

Yep. For every $50 billion we borrow and send Ukraine, the UK will send $2 billion, Germany will send $2 billion, France will send $1 billion, and the others combined will send $5 billion. So that's our $50 billion, and Europe's $10 billion. But I'm afraid I'm being optimistic.

Austin is a disgusting sorry excuse for whatever roll he’s playing. He was with Raython after he retired from the Army and then the Globalists chose him for Sec. Defense. He’s a rotten one.

You’re pretty accurate. You know what it’s all about.

I know we wouldn’t be surprised if we knew how many Trillionaires there really are.

#14. From captured Russian documents during the first week, reported in Forbes and other news, the President of Belarus letting it slip, Russia planned for a fifteen day war. The goal was to capture Kyiv and key cities and expected the population to welcome them.

#13. Russia invaded Ukraine. If they did not, this would not happen. Weakening the Russian military is the obvious U.S. response no matter who is in charge. Russia is bringing T-62s out of storage and calling up conscripts for one month’s training. The strategy of supplying the weapons and letting Ukraine fight is working.

#21. Let us hope those around him can keep him on track and stable, no matter what course of action he takes.

Dear God help us, Biden was in worse shape physically and mentally entering the White House than Reagan was when he was left.

#22. It sounds like him to me. Try looking up Senator Biden's speeches, like this one, Poland and Nato, before the Euro-Atlantic Association at Warsaw University, Poland, March 25, 1997.

He was a U.S. Senator from Delaware, where corporations get registered and get tax sheltered, for thirty six years. He can think up, write, edit, proof read, and give speeches in his sleep.
