Wednesday’s pretty much the only night I have a chance at it. LOL

Yes, she does and she is sooo happy!

...and no, I didn't go stand in it. It was windy and pretty chilly. LOL!

We do have the rain gauge out and hubby said he’d go out at about midnight to get the full amount.

There were at least 2 of the kitties on the windowsill at the bedroom window, howling for supper. When I looked out, the rain had slowed down quite a bit, so I took their food out. Those are some smart kitties. Peaches was not impressed. LOL!

I guess I had whined enough about the drought that Mark remembered me when he saw the line of storms. I think he was afraid we’d get tornadoes. If it hadn’t been dark, I would have taken a couple of pictures for him, since he’s such a weather geek [self-described].

Midnight is when I always check our gauge, too, when we have rain. I look forward to your hubby's report. It looked impressive on the radar. I'm glad there weren't any tornados with it.

When some of our cats lived outside, they'd jump up on the kitchen windowsill to let me know when their food dish was empty. Your kitties are smart, too, and know where to go. :-)

With the rain we had last week and the heat we've had this week, the corn is really taking off. Before the rain started, the stalks were maybe a foot tall. The first pic was taken last Wednesday, on our fifth day of getting some rain. A nice growth spurt in those five days. I'm just under 6 feet so that gives some perspective.

I got this today, same spot, after the remainder of the rainfall and the past four days being roasty-toasty. The grass is mighty happy too. LOL Hubby needs to mow!

Now we see how long it is before I'm peeking out from inside the edge of the field. LOL

Wow! Now that’s some growth spurt! You’ll be lost beneath it before very long. It’s sure pretty!

Well, your corn is definitely way past the proverbial knee-high by the 4th of July, looks like you have a good crop growing.

I don’t know how that poor corn managed to grow the first foot. It took weeks because we had no rain. It’s taken advantage of the four inches we got last week. We’ll get a little rain tomorrow from the cold front coming through and that’ll make it jump again.

The view through the windows on the front of the house is gorgeous right now.

I’ll bet it makes you smile every time you look out that window. That it’s NOT cotton. LOL! It is gorgeous stuff that corn.

Right now it’s 64 lovely degrees outside. Do you know how happy that makes ME?

Knee-high by the 4th of July might be up north. Down here, it’s already loaded with ears. But then we plant earlier. :-)

I’m just tickled to have corn again rather than cotton. It’s so much prettier and won’t give everyone allergy problems all summer. The past two years with everyone growing cotton wore almost everyone I know out with allergies.
So far this year, I haven’t seen a cotton field. All fields are either corn or soybeans. YAY!

It does make me smile and I turn my head to look through my window a lot this year. The past two years, I didn’t care to look. LOL

We’ll have a couple of rough-ish weeks ahead when the corn pollinates and then it’s clear sailing the rest of the summer. Yeah, some grass and flower pollen but that’s bearable.

Right now it’s pleasant to go outside - when it isn’t blue blazin’ hot - because the trees have finished a last. No sneezing or coughing at present.

You’re quite a bit cooler than we are tonight. I know you’re lovin’ those temps. The kitties probably are too. Did you spend any time outside once the rain stopped?

I know the last two years have been non-stop allergies and misery for all of you, so I’m happy for your corn.

I didn’t go out. There was no where to sit as everything is lovely and soaked. Hubby said we got 1/2 inch. That’s darn good for us. That makes 3/4” for the year. LOL! I hope the tide has turned, as it were.

Yes, the last two summers have been rough for everyone around here since there were cotton fields everywhere.

I thought maybe you’d stood outside for a few minutes to enjoy the cool air and smell that wonderful fresh smell. It’s been so long since you’ve had that opportunity.
A half inch isn’t bad at all for that area. I’d hoped for more since it’s been so long since you’ve had any.

Your Hubby will probably grumble about it in a few days when he has to mow the yard. LOL

We aren’t as bad as luvie was, but we still have not had our spring cleansing rain....more watering this weekend.

Well, he just mowed a few days ago, so maybe he has a few days before it has to be done again.

I’ll probably go out right before bedtime. I have stepped out a couple of times checking on kitties, and it was lovely for sure. Like I’ve said, I’m not much of an outdoorsy person.

I thought you were going to get rain the other night when I pulled up the Lake Hood cam and saw thick clouds. But then I checked the radar and nope. :-(
