Biden Admin Gives Big Handout To Solar, Wind Projects As Gas Prices Soar

The Biden administration unveiled a policy Tuesday evening making it cheaper for green energy developers to build and maintain projects on federal lands.

Interior Secretary Deb Haaland announced the federal government would reduce rents and fees charged for wind and solar projects on public lands during a roundtable Tuesday with U.S. and state officials in Nevada. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) expects the policy to reduce rents and fees by more than 50% when implemented.

“Clean energy projects on public lands have an important role to play in reducing our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions and lowering costs for families,” Haaland said in a statement.

“The Bureau of Land Management continues to take bold steps to attract renewable energy investments on public lands in a way that is environmentally sound,” BLM Director Tracy Stone-Manning added. “This will help support our clean energy economy by creating good paying jobs, increasing our energy security, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”

Meanwhile, the Department of the Interior (DOI) reduced land available for oil and gas leasing by 80% and increased royalty rates for leases by 50% in April. The average price of gasoline nationwide surged to $4.67 a gallon Wednesday, an all-time record, AAA data showed.

"No guilt about us taxpayers who co-funded your costs, and co-fund your useage?"

If you believe like I do that credits and subsidies do nothing but inflate prices, then the solar tax credit I got when I installed my system didn't help me. All it did was inflate the costs. Thus, you didn't co-fund my costs.

And what do you mean by co-funding my usage?

By the way, I hate all the subsidies and such. I hate even having to go solar. Energy should be cheap and shouldn't be hamstrung by the gubment. Solar is not nearly as effective as fossil fuels, especially natural gas. I wish I could drill and process my own fossil fuels, but I can't. So the only way to have energy that gubmet doesn't get in the way of is with solar.

“the solar tax credit I got when I installed my system didn’t help me.”

How about the taxpayer funded subsidy that the Solar panel producer got, to offset the PRICE that you paid?

For 5-7 years, you’ll have those panels, before they need replacement, and we’ll offset your cost for those, too.

SCAM-O-RAMA aka: Solar Power. The prices for gas, fossil-fuel backup, and EVERY delivered product will rise, so you “solar-powered” climate change-excused “off the grid” folks can suffer with the rest of us on THOSE.As always, follow the $$$$$$. Stay at home to avoid the fuel costs, or lean on tax-payer subsidized EV’s, as long as they’re “Union-made” (yet another payoff).

My solar panels have a 25-year warranty guaranteed to have only a slight decline in throughput to still be operating at 70% the final year. My batteries have a 19-year/50% warranty.

I'm with you in part. All the subsidies did was make my suppliers richer. It's analogous to colleges hiking tuition to suck in more scholarship money -- in the end the scholarships hurt the students as much as helped them, but they did enrich the colleges. That's what solar subsidies do: enrich the industry but not the buyers.

The EV I ordered isn't "union made". LOL

And I'm one of the ones loudest in saying the global warming religion is fake. The Modern Warm Period we're in is nothing different from the Medieval Warm Period, Roman Warm Period (time of Christ) or the Minoan Warm Period (time of Moses). In fact, each warm period is cooler than the prior ones and are truly the good times to be alive. It's in the centuries long cooling periods that people die from climate change.

I'm just saying if the Dims are going to make energy too expensive to use, us freedom loving Americans ought to take matters into our own hands and do more than just fuss about it. When my solar system is upgraded in the next month or so it'll produce 90% of all the power we consume, including charging the EV to drive ~200 miles per week. Thus, I'll complain about the costs of only the 10% of the power I buy from the grid. I don't see what's so evil about trying to protect my retirement planning from runaway energy inflation. I don't see what's so bad about making my power more dependable than the 3rd world country style intermittent power that the Dims have planned for us.

Let’s put fifty 800 foot tall wind turbines in front of El Capitan in Yosemite. To save the environment!

If solar power is so great I wonder why the utilities don’t use it. Instead they use gas or coal. I guess they don’t know much about generating electricity economically.

Good luck with that.

EV’s are NOT in my future, at all. I’ve been involved/working in the electric utility system op’s for 55 years or so, and they, too, have wandered into the fold of the Globalists/Government-dependent cabal.

Blackouts this summer and beyond are necessary to cement the future agenda, and they will be rolling in cash forever.

You and I think a lot alike. Fossil fuels are vastly superior to solar. The problem is that both state and federal regulations limit use of fossil fuels, including for power utilities. Obama shut down a lot of coal powered plants. California told their power utilities no new plants using fossil fuels, even with the increase in population and power demand. Brandon makes natural gas hard to come by. If it wasn’t for those kind of government restrictions, fossil fuels would be way better.

The only thing solar brings to the table is the government has yet to figure out how to get between the sun and the solar panels on my roof.
