How can America bounce back from low birthrates? Ban pornography, said Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance.
What’s happening: According to HuffPost, Vance — a Republican Senate candidate and author of the best-selling memoir “Hillbilly Elegy” — said in a “newly unearthed” interview with a Catholic magazine in August 2021 that he wants to ban pornography.
“I think the combination of porn, abortion have basically created a lonely, isolated generation that isn’t getting married, they’re not having families, and they’re actually not even totally sure how to interact with each other,” Vance told Crisis Magazine at a conference for young conservatives.
Vance’s campaign “didn’t provide a comment about his more recent thoughts on porn, and how they would factor into his priorities as a senator,” HuffPost writes.

you have a point....and folks can turn any image into something “dirty” anyhow.....old catalogue models come to mind.
I am not a porn enthusiast in any way, but its not going anywhere.
Bans don't work. A high-ish tax on childless individuals is a workable and fair option. Avoidance of the tax gets you where you need to be.
The only way out is for the addict to want freedom from it enough to fight it.
Good luck with all that "we must honor men stuff."
Um, that won’t happen because government officials and media personalities would have nothing to do all day. Porn and a drawer full of munchies is entertaining.
Vance is a terrible candidate risking what may be the most important election in years, deciding the Senate majority. He was better than the other RINO’s but that is about all that can be said about him. Josh Mandel was a better candidate but looked like a baby faced little metrosexual and has about as much charisma as the average IRS agent.
This whole situation is a dog’s breakfast and Trump had better park himself in Cleveland, Akron, Toledo and Cincinnati if the country is to be saved.
.........lol, banning porn would follow the same path as banning booze (aka prohibition)....
Good lord aren’t there already enough incentives for poor people to pump out kids? Guess not so it’s OK to punish those that don’t as well?
Ryan is going to win by 10 points plus - even Republicans I know in Ohio are not voting for Vance
not everyone wants to be holy though.
Trying to ban porn, games, or violent videos just makes Republicans actually become what they should be standing against the most. Kinda of unbelievable that there are still censorship sponsors that claim to be conservative
It's not a punishment. It would be bearing part of a cost the the childless are now getting for free.
Porn is a symptom.
Actually, the childless should have to pay for education costs of the next generation they won’t be responsible for. Reduce their taxes if anything
Should not pay
That isnt going to save families because that isnt the problem.
It’s a good analogy for the left’s gun ban nonsense.
That’s actually what I thought this article was going to be about....and, I thought...brilliant! Showing the absurdity, of their gun “control” calls.
Banning something doesn’t fix the underlying cause of the problem.
But, this is an older interview the left (or, RINOs) has dug up....maybe JD will see my post and run with it ... :-)
Porn destroys men from the inside out. It is one of the most powerful addictions of all.
A stable population with large supply of young people is essential for a health country. Children grow to become consumers, taxpayers and serve in the military. If you don't have enough children (and right now we don't) you eventually put the economy and national security at risk.
The cost to raise a child in the US is about $13K per year. Childless people who want a healthy economy and military right now, get that benefit for free. Taxing childless individuals at say 3 to 4 percent of that amount would serve as a dis-incentive to remain childless.
Yep!
Oh Shut the hell up. Vance is not a globalist which you FREE TRAITORS™ just can't stand. He made peace with Trump. So screw all of you GOPe hacks.
I am a libertarian....BUT for the sake of argument, I assume you would NOT be o.k. with a store selling drugs to your minor child. Correct?
Draw the lines for me.
I am against drug prohibition but I am in favor of age of majority laws.
I am against censorship but I am in favor of it being illegal to show obscenity to a minor. So, they can have their website but if it is technically possible for a minor to access it without their parent’s permission, then the company has committed a crime.
A 12 year old can purchase a mobile device at a store with $30 of their own money and can hook it up to public Wifi and access free porn. The company serving it has committed a crime. This is no different than a 12 year taking $30 of their own money and buying weed at the weed shop or booze at the liquor store.
