How can America bounce back from low birthrates? Ban pornography, said Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance.
What’s happening: According to HuffPost, Vance — a Republican Senate candidate and author of the best-selling memoir “Hillbilly Elegy” — said in a “newly unearthed” interview with a Catholic magazine in August 2021 that he wants to ban pornography.
“I think the combination of porn, abortion have basically created a lonely, isolated generation that isn’t getting married, they’re not having families, and they’re actually not even totally sure how to interact with each other,” Vance told Crisis Magazine at a conference for young conservatives.
Vance’s campaign “didn’t provide a comment about his more recent thoughts on porn, and how they would factor into his priorities as a senator,” HuffPost writes.

You are missing the point of the branding campaign of Vance.
He didn’t say to ban porn as the article implicated. He said porn (internet addict) Is detrimental to interpersonal relationships where people are isolated and unable to connect. I agree with that. But that’s not what the article says. They’re branding him as a Holy Roller nut .
It doesn’t even make sense. Is he implying that if only there was less porn we would learn more effective communication skills and turn to our families instead ?
I think it was George Carlin that said, “If a man wants to buy a girlie magazine at one o’clock in the morning, I say we let him.”
People have lost focus on how difficult life can be for single people once they grow older. A single person, who gets sick, has nobody to help them. Nobody to look after a business, nobody to make health decisions, nobody to look after children.
In the past people married, not just for love, but because they knew exactly how cruel life can be.
We hide that terribleness away in nursing homes; we look to government to protect us when times get bad. We’ve exchanged families for government.
Porn is a tangential problem. The real problem is a population that only understands the consequences of (in)actions when they are far too old to correct them.
Agreed. Porn is a symptom, not the problem. Conservatives need to stay out of people’s personal business. It’s not any better when we legislate morality as it is when the left does it.

….and from what I hear it’s beyond belief
…also, because of the slippery slope, mere porn is not ‘enough’ anymore

That’s why the Founders wrote about enumerated powers in the Constitution. But, then We, the People, let them ooze into other things that were (are) not to be handled by the Feds. The Founders recognized that we could end up just as we are, today, if we allowed the Federal Government too much latitude and to much authority.
We would do well to push FedGov back within the confines of the Constitution, and let the socialists’ heads explode.
Vance will probably lose in Nov. Levin, hated visciously by many on this forum, doubts Vance can win in November. Regardless of what one does or does not think about Levin, I suspect he is right about this.

If God filters out those that watch porn there won’t be anyone in heaven from the last 50+ years. Who cares anyway, it’s no worse than video games or movies which the left harps on all the time for ruined minds.
There is also sophisticated software to block porn so good parents could use this...
