Much has been said on the subject of single Black women , our marriageability rates and the abysmal dating pool available to us. You might even say too much has been said about all this, but I have yet to hear the perspective of one who is perpetually single like myself. There is no shortage of people within and outside our community telling us that our standards are too high, and how we need to be “high-value women” or settle for whoever shows us a modicum of attention.
As if that weren’t enough, it seems like mainstream media can’t get enough of this subject, either. In the early 2000s, there was a flood of exposés on all the major U.S. news outlets about the “Single Black Female,” which often focused on the question, “Why can’t successful Black women find a man?” Much of the reporting devolved into paternalistic advice, false assertions about Black pathology, and overworn stereotypes about “the strong Black independent woman.” Not unlike a frog cut open during a middle school science experiment, Black women were prodded, poked, sliced, and examined like specimens as our interior lives were dissected under the microscope of America’s paternalism.

In a better world, young men of all races would find it incredibly sexy to be the target of self-righteous fussing.
Black women can be sexy. They often have the nicest faces and bodies, if they are taking care of themselves.
It is when they let themselves get heavy that then become unattractive.
MGTOW?
Ditto. Add to ‘racism’ the underlying truism that Chad wants nothing to do with grievance riddled Ekemini Uwan.
This link is full of hatred against white people.
You could just about win Woke-Bingo with that one sentence.
No man wants to support fake nails at 200 bucks a month, new hair doo at 300 a month and an attitude that says f you, all the time.
Nubian princesses need to be more giving.
The "strong Black independent woman." tends to be just that.
Her problem is the same problem of other women of different races. Finding a good man.
And versa versa.
The headline on this picture read, "18-Year-Old Plus-Size Model Redefines Fitness and Beauty"
Even with all the brainwashing going on... Morbidly Obese is still not attractive.
Throw in that she also has an incredibly twisted definition of "good man" and we agree.
“Black woman ensnared by structural mechanisms of mass incarceration, colorism, and desirability mapped onto me and other Black women whose dating experiences track with Black heteronormative dating patterns.”
How many men want to be married to any woman that talks like that?
Looks are important, but personality is the real key.
Women who are pleasant and friendly (not fake, from the heart) light up the room they are in.
Women who project any hostility (”chip on their shoulder”) are toxic and men will run to get away from them.
This is true.
I looked up her picture and she’s a pretty black woman.
I’d say she has a “personality problem.”
I care not a whit about a black woman choosing to remain single. I am angry if the reported statistic that over 70% of black children are born to single black women and raised without a father. That is the source, my dear, of much of the criminality we face in this country.
Man if I had said single black women have an abysmal dating pool, I would immediately be labeled a racist.
Take advantage of “white privilege” like Kamala, Kentanji, and AOC, Marry a white male.
You can just about tell by that sentence that this gal went to college. You can also just about tell that the average single black woman reading that sentence could not understand a word of it.
I wonder how it could be translated into Ebonics?
Unwed mothers @ 70%+ IS a problem.
