Texas cops said last night that they didn't immediately rush in to find the shooter on Tuesday's attack after being shot at because they feared they might be killed, and even suggested that they deliberately locked the gunman in the classroom where he slaughtered 21 people in order to trap him.

He was being challenged by Wolf Blitzer over why the first officers who responded to the shooting retreated after Salvador Ramos shot at them with his AR-15 and then waited an hour for tactical SWAT teams to take him out, leaving him alone in a classroom with the 19 fourth graders and two teachers who he slaughtered.

So they were able to contain that gunman inside that classroom so that he was not able to go to any other portions of the school to commit any other killings,' Lt. Olivarez said.

'Waiting an hour is disgusting. If that turns out to be true, then it is a disgusting fact,' Sean Burke, a retired school resource officer from Massachusetts who now is the president of the School Safety Advocacy Council, told NBC.
*** Surgeons at the hospital in Uvalde have also suggested that the delay in responding to the shooting may have cost some kids their lives.

There is growing anger and frustrating among parents who were pepper sprayed, pinned to the ground and even placed in handcuffs.
Angeli Gomez (above) jumped the school fence and ran inside the school where she rescued her children herself
'The police were doing nothing,' Angeli Rose Gomez told the Wall Street Journal.

Hmm, if they locked the door then they had a key. But their excuse the other day was that they stood around because they were waiting for a key.
Screw the blue
My former employer gave us bars to block the door from opening.
Agree, hunt the COWARDS down! Time for a hanging. ALL of them.
I think they will end up giving all the cops there Medals of Valor for saving the lives of the all the parents who tried to go into that school to save the children’s lives. Maybe give them a little bonus on their pensions, too.
No windows in the classroom?
My exact thoughts all the stories about my early life would be shattered my shoulder and even my wife would look at me like what the hell happened to you do you went from balls to the wall All over the world stuff we’ve all heard about from everybody that knows you and now you’re sniveling coward

Tears in my eyes watching those mothers Sabi on their knees begging if that doesn’t move you did you have no heart either way
You have to have repercussions for this and the police cannot cover their damn asses like that always do where are the Texas Rangers someone to say something about this the only person I’ve seen speak candidly is Bernie Kerik
I truly detest these jacked up cops they are not Navy SEALs they are police officer
Do you need any more evidence that the police are only there to protect and serve the interests of the powerful and elite?Knowing that, where were the chest pounding, gun toting, "don't mess with Texas" big mouths when the children needed them?
Pete Arredondo is the Chief of Police for the Uvalda school district. He was the incident commander for the school shooter incident. HE was the one who made the police wait...he misread the situation and thought it was a barricaded shooter, and that the ‘active shooter” part was over.
A quick search around the net finds barely a mention of him and his law enforcement position-it’s been scrubbed already. At the press conference, the guy doing the talking wouldn’t release his name. BUT, he did say it was a bad mistake on the police’s part.
Still are today.
” . . . [h]ad the police immediately stormed the shooter and neutralized him . . .”
As long as these disgusting slugs went home safely at the end of the shift.
I’d do anything to help kids, even if I had nothing but just my hands. They are our future.
I believe that your assumptions are correct, and sadly I would also venture a guess that the officers' actions to fall back and wait for reinforcements was departmental policy.
I would not want to be the county sheriff when he is up for re-election.
That headline makes no sense. Checkbox age journalism.
I don’t understand why the police weren’t more prepared. Another article said that Uvalde schools were locked down at least 48 times this academic year. They should have had a strategy well in place. And I don’t mean standing around waiting for someone else to do something — or pepper spraying anxious parents.
Yep, my dad was crippled most of my life from injuries but he never hesitated to step in to anything and expected that from me as well and I am convinced that is the problem with most of the world today—cowardice.
Don’t care what religion or what you believe-—there is nothing to fear in dying honorably in protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
Amen brother
Some of just know
If you’re a man you live for this moment if it happens to you you just have to do it it’s in my genetics my father my grandpa other and and so on the Anglo-Saxon Norman wars to the American revolution and the war between the states and so forth we have done our best to drill that out of our young men now and our own peril
History is replete with men often Very young and some woman who rise above themselves and just dive in
