Two Leading Candidates For GOP Nomination For Governor in Michigan Disqualified For Invalid Signatures
PJ Media ^ | 05/27/2022 | Rick Moran

The Michigan Board of State Canvassers has disqualified five Republican candidates for governor because of invalid signatures, including presumed front-runners former Detroit police chief James Craig and wealthy businessman Perry Johnson.

The vote to disqualify was tied 2-2 along party lines but because there was no affirmative majority vote, the candidate’s names will not be on the ballot.

Investigators for the board found 36 petition circulators for 10 different candidates in several races committed intentional forgery, signing random names on the petition sheets. The 36 circulators submitted 68,000 fraudulent signatures.

The matter is going to court but time is growing very short. There is June 3 deadline for the ballots to be finalized for the August 2 primary.

From MLive

The debate came down to an interpretation of a state law, MCL 168.544c, because how the Michigan Bureau of Elections officials handled the petitions.

While they reviewed every single signature, they only double checked 7,000 of the 68,000 signatures by comparing them to peoples’ actual signatures on file in Michigan’s Qualified Voter File. None were correct.

But the candidates argue the state needs to review all 68,000 signatures – and not throw away signatures just because they came from a fraudulent circulator – as MCL 168.544c states.

“The invalidity of 1 or more signatures on a petition does not affect the validity of the remainder of the signatures on the petition,” the law states.

Donna Brandenburg, a prominent businesswoman, called the state’s process a “shame” and “an assault against the American people on every single level.”

“I find this process to be an arbitrary goat rodeo,” she said

The disqualified candidates have a case to be made but the question remains will the court allow them the time to get valid signatures to appear on the ballot.

What a scam. DemocRAT operatives “volunteer” to collect signatures for Republican front runners then deliberately sabotage the signature collection process, disqualifying the Republicans.

I was looking forward to having James Craig on the ballot.

If they win MI again and Kemp or Abrams goes against Trump in GA, it will be hard to win.

So the Democrats got their petition circulators to sign on with the Republicans, fake the signatures, then get the Republicans kicked out of the race by Democrat judges.

Although I am a Christian, I can see blood being spilled. This is corruption on a scale which won’t be fixed by an election.

That is exactly what happened. Craig is the target here. You will note no news outlet is gong to say a word about a Black candidate being cheated off the ballot.

I was looking forward to having James Craig on the ballot.

Although Im from Ohio and cannot vote for Craig, I am disappointed in this fiasco.

There is no reason the GOP cannot fund its own primaries or nominating conventions.

Government money? Government rules.

GOP money? GOP rules.

On second thought, I’m going to point out why you’re such a Quisling:

They fell 3,800 votes shy, after 61,000 votes were discarded without being inspected. That means that they could have up to 57,000 valid votes... or it means fewer than 6% of the votes need to be found valid. But you’re willing to hand the state over to the Demonrats.

They need to follow the rules.

However, why should they be disqualified when votes cast after the deadline were counted nonetheless?

While I live in Florida, I am from Michigan. I was in Grand Rapids last month when two big things occurred. A cop killed a black guy who fled a traffic stop. Al Sharpton and the circus were there. The other big thing was the Republican convention. It too was a clown show. Biggly. These supposed candidates hired incompetently people to “get names.” They get what they deserve. Their two leading candidates, for Sec of State and Atty Gen, have no chance of winning the general election. It now clearly looks that one of the worst Governors in the county, Whitmer, will glide to an easy reelection.

The candidates were at least 3800 signatures short of qualifying, meaning they would have to hustle to comply with the law.

hustling would be organizing signing drives at the mall or the library...all over the state.

Last night I wrote to the MI repub. party and asked them WTH they were doing about this, and suggested the above idea. I also told them that I would drive to Lansing or Detroit or "Downstate" from northern Michigan to sign the petition for James Clark. I haven't heard back....but I'm counting my pop bottles for gas money! I'm serious.

So many dirty tricks. Are people from the organizations that collected the signatures headed to prison?
