Texas Department Public Safety spokesman Lt. Christopher Olivarez confirmed to a reporter during a live shot that police officers went into Robb Elementary School to get their own children during the massacre.

Amid outrage over reports that frantic families who complained about police inaction during the massacre were held back by police, a clip of a live interview with Olivarez from Tuesday has gone viral.

I’d like to know how many cops the town has, and how much or how little training they’ve had. I suspect that the town, like most in the country, has had an exodus of experienced cops thru resignation or retirement, and has had a hard time recruiting anyone to be cops. So far, I haven’t heard anyone on TV ask these questions.

Texas averages about 2 cops per thousand, so a town of 15M can expect to have 30-35 cops. Maybe a third currently on duty, so about ten running around town. Really makes one wonder where the other 140 cops came from on such short notice...?

Thanks for posting that clip. I was seething when I watched the show yesterday, and as the show progressed it seemed that more breaking info came out. I swear, War Room is the best source for relevant news (along with FreeRepublic) and I try never to miss it.

I think today’s show should be even more interesting, but have an appointment and will have to watch later.

Who gave the order to stand down? This sounds like a re occurrence time and time again, this is the real question and those responsible need to be brought to light. Viewing the footage looks like they were all their for a picnic BBQ instead of a face off

The press reports the deaths but almost never reports on the permanent disability of those wounded.

Thanks for the info. I do remember it a little (I was 12) and it was huge.
One documentary I saw, and even the TV movie had a civilian involved in Whitman’s takedown. I do remember someone having a 12 gauge, but that could’ve been a “Hollywood addition”.
I am going to have to re-visit that.

One of my wife’s friend’s daughter was in that class, she decided to skip class that particular day, Thank God.
We were living in Rockford at that time. It was truly awful.

What you describe seems normal, and not very hard to accomplish, for a competently administrated school. Uvalde’s situation probably involves a mix of lapses in planning and foresight, administration, duty, resource allocation, etc., but we can be sure that the whole truth will be elusive.

While of course everyone is looking at the tragedy of the class(es) that were entered and the students and teachers who were murdered, as I understand it the killing occurred in only those two, joined, rooms. Everyone else survived. If the rest of the school got the word to lock down, why didn’t the two murdered teachers?
