The Massachusetts high court dismissed oil giant ExxonMobil’s motion to dismiss a state lawsuit accusing it of misleading investors on climate change Tuesday.

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that the state could proceed with its lawsuit against ExxonMobil and that a free speech law didn’t protect the company’s activity in question, according to the decision written by Chief Justice Scott Kafker. Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey filed the lawsuit against ExxonMobil in 2019, alleging that the company misled investors about the financial risks posed by fossil fuel-driven climate change through a “deceptive advertising” campaign.

If exxon had any testicular fortitude they'd shut down any and all activity in DUMassachewsits. ALL of it. The rejection lends credibility to a non existent issue. Anyone know what grew where the giant redwoods grow before them? Anyone care to address the dino fossils in Wyoming/Montana? Things change. Sometimes quicker than others. We have very little input.

‘deceptive advertising’ - too bad this isn’t applied against the Democrats.

It would seem to be the best option for a fight-back tactic. Pick ONE state and isolate it, deny it ANY product at all.

Massachusetts is probably the one I’d pick - just because Kennedys, Barney Frank,, Obamas and all those Marthas Vineyard Democrats AND the idiots in MA that keep voting for them.

“...according to the decision written by Chief Justice Scott Kafker. “

Change the “er” to an “a” and you get Kafka. A liberally polluted judiciary produces Kafka-esque decisions and results, as in “The Trial.”

This isn’t quite a first amendment ruling.

Exxon was arguing (and they’re right) that the state is waging attack lawsuits at them and Massachusetts has laws on the books to prevent that.

The court has ruled that those laws don’t apply to the government.

Rules for thee not for me…

More ESG agitation should eventually be good for another 50 cent/gallon increase in the price of gasoline

I thought the same thing at first, but they’d just be leaving the market to their competitors. And if the state ran every oil company out of town they’d just create state run gas stations like places that have state run liquor stores.

This is how Obama got the oil industry to back his plans.
“Back us or we will sue you”

No, no, wrong take.

Make them prove that CO2 is the cause. Not theoretical. Factual and with measurable impact. They must prove that CO2 is the one and only cause of global warming. At least 51% or shut the F** up.
