In defending House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s pro-abortion stances, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough suggested Tuesday that Jesus Christ was not against abortion.
The MSNBC host accused pro-life activists of “dragging the politics of abortion up into the altar of the church,” noting that the Southern Baptist Church, to which he says he belongs, was “effectively pro-choice until 1980.”
“This wasn’t about Jesus. It was about politics. That was the rise of the moral majority in 1980, bringing abortion politics into the pews of Republican-leaning churches,” he said.
Scarborough then claimed that Jesus “never once mentioned” abortion in the gospels, though most religions holds that abortion is the killing of an unborn child and that an abortion is against the fifth commandment: “Thou shalt not kill.”
“Now, the Catholic Church, mind you, has focused on abortion a bit longer,” he said. “But how disconcerting that religious leaders in that church would deny communion to faithful members of their congregation over a political issue that Jesus never once mentioned in the gospels, despite the fact that abortion was both a political and philosophical issue in ancient Greece and in Rome and when Jesus was alive.”
The MSNBC host emphasized that “Jesus did address most other things that touch our lives.”
“He told his disciples in Matthew 25 that we would be welcomed into the kingdom of heaven if we gave water to the thirsty, fed the hungry, clothed the poor, and brought hope to the hopeless,” Scarborough insisted. “We were to lead with forgiveness and love.”

Does Joe understand they are just killing the babies, and not the adult women, too?
Science says human life begins at conception.
Don’t you love how atheists are always explaining the Bible to Christians?
Jesus never mentioned “assault” rifles either.
Spot on!!!!
I’m pro-choice but Scarborough might be one of the stupidest people on the planet. Classical societies and Jewish law of the time both barred abortion after “ensoulment.” Jesus never spoke about cannibalism either. Does that mean it’s OK to chow down on your neighbor’s kids, if you see them unaccompanied?
Another “devout” Christian speaks.
In America, EVERYBODY is a religious expert.
So Jesus would be happy with killing one of God’s children in the womb?
I think Jesus would be happy if people would take birth control or use condoms if one of God’s children did not want to rear a child.
If you think about about it abortion is a pretty barbaric ordeal to put ones self through.
New International Version Psalm 139
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb
He did not mention underwear, voting, or automobiles either.
The Left didn’t invent Abortion until many years later
Indeed, he did. As to the Law, of which the 10 Commandments are the core, Jesus said,
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 5:17-19
The 5th says “thou shalt not murder” — the translators of old messed that up by not pointing out that the word “kill” in those days was equal to “murder” — taking a life deliberately and with malice.
As to pinhead’s noting that the word abortion is not in the bible, well neither is the WWW! So bloody what?
Lori Klausutis.
Say her name, Morning Joe.
Thou shalt not murder fills the bill.
Joe, the word “abortion” did not exist at the time of Jesus.
As he thought to himself, "if she had gotten an abortion, I wouldn't have had to murder her."
prolly cause it was a given and dint think he had to...
Hey JoeIdiot, did Jesus have to mention abortion for you to realize that abortion is murder? STFU Idiot, kkthx!?!?
Exactly.
The implications of His statement are far more severe: “you would be better off hanging a rock around your neck and go drown yourself than face Me come judgment day.”
Sin angers Him on general principle but this sin is especially hateful to Him and is expressly singled out for an exceptionally severe judgment.
Prov. 6; Matt. 18:6 and Luke 17:2
