The crushing defeat of David Perdue in Tuesday's Republican gubernatorial primary in Georgia likely delighted Donald Trump's adversaries, who have been keeping scorecards to measure the performance of election candidates backed by the former president.
Trump has weighed in on November's midterm elections like no former president, announcing more than 190 endorsements and holding rallies with his proteges. The success of his endorsees is seen as a key sign of his continued influence over the party as he hints at another run for the White House in 2024.
But political analysts and Republican strategists caution that any jubilation among Trump's enemies over Perdue's loss to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is short-sighted, and that any scorecard is a poor barometer for the state of Trumpism in the United States in 2022.

"In 2016, Trump was really the only candidate running as that sort of populist. Now it's increasingly what most Republican primary candidates sound like," said Republican strategist Alex Conant.
That underlines the continuation of the Trump-led metamorphosis of the Republican Party since he was voted out of the White House in 2020, even as some party leaders seek to move the party away from Trumpism, the strategists and analysts said.
"I think the No. 1 thing Trump has absolutely changed in the party is that Republicans don't even try playing nice anymore. My side has become more angry," said Republican strategist Chuck Warren.

With months of primaries still to come, it is much too early to know the final tallies on Trump's scorecard.
But what is already clear, analysts say, is that Trump's winning 2016 strategy to seize on the issues bitterly polarizing Americans is increasingly being emulated by Republican candidates this year and enthusiastically embraced by party supporters.

To think that gutless Repukes have, and undoubtedly still do, employ limp-wristed, clueless pansies like Chuck Warren is the reason we have so many POS RINO's to rid oursleves of in this country. Why doesn't anybody ask this POS to provide an example of 1) Repukes not "playing nice", and 2) where they have demonstrated any form of "anger", outside of letter writing? Dumbass.

Bush League Republicans deeply saddened.
They’re supposed to assist the Democrats, that what Assistant Democrats are supposed to do.
Look at Micro Rubio, Flimsey Grahamnesty, Cornyn, Tllis, Hoeven, they’re trying to play nice and give the Democrats a permanent majority with amnesty for illegal aliens.
Conservatives are sick and tired of having our representatives being McConnell-like subservient to Democrats. That's the difference that Trump ushered in.
Think about it. Why is everyone so surprised and ecstatic about the Kemp win in GA? Because it is an anomaly, a one-off that proves the rule: it is a MAGA party now.

So Trump is 100-6. Amazing.
The liberal MSM response to that:
Yeah, but Pence backed Kemp!
populist . . . populist . . . populist . . . condescending name-calling is just a sport. What we really need is a federal government filled with people who are NOT morally bankrupt, depraved thieves. Couple that with returning the country to our Judeo-Christian religious roots and morality. THAT would fix the REAL problems of this country.
MSM/MSN lies
since he was voted out of the White House was stolen from him in 2020,
Yeah, but Pence backed Kemp!

There is a lot more going on there than just Trump vs Pence. Pence could not push any candidate into a winner where they wee not in that position already. Kemp would have been difficult to beat by any candidate, and arriving late to the party is a real disadvantage.
The MSM though, which I brought up, is pushing a Pence vs Trump narrative concerning Kemp making it all out to be some glorious victory for Kemp, and thus by extension Pence, when nothing could be farther from the truth.
McCormick needs to get behind Oz. Casey’s up in ‘24 and he can have it. Heard Newt say it last night.
I would agree as McCormick has been vetted through this primary process alone.
Oz wouldn’t have won without Trump’s backing. It proves he has juice.
All Trump ever did was do what any American President should do: Put America first. It’s not rocket science.
But Trump’s real genius was deliberately making the Left hate him so much that they would reactively take the opposite position from whatever position he took.
Using that rope-a-dope strategy, he has forced them into taking the most unpopular positions on every issue - literally putting America last - over and over again. By 2024, the Democrat party and the RINOs will be utterly hated by the American people.
And Trump didn’t have to lift a finger - he just constantly tried to piss them off and they were so blinded by rage - they did it to themselves.
Trump mostly tries to endorse whoever he thinks will win - he wants to build a reputation as being “kingmaker”.
Every once in a while he makes an exception - as with Perdue - and endorses someone who’s campaign is in trouble to try and boost their approval.
Mostly though, the smart strategy is to pick winners - and be seen as kingmaker.
There simply were no good alternatives in Georgia.
Trump mostly tries to endorse whoever he thinks will win - he wants to build a reputation as being “kingmaker”.

Not sure that is a true statement. Trump has endorsed some candidates that were hardly on the radar that went on to win. He doesn’t need to build a reputation as a ‘king maker’, He is and has been a ‘king maker’. It is not just Trump that the people want! Is is his policies that are being voted for. Sometimes there are exceptions.
