I’m sorry but I just can’t stay away from the story of Archbishop Salvatore Cordelione announcing that, because she’s an aggressive advocate for unlimited abortion, Nancy Pelosi no longer qualifies for communion in his diocese. With the weekend having passed since the Friday announcement, noted religious scholars Nancy Pelosi and Whoopi Goldberg (that was sarcasm for those who thought I was serious) have weighed in and their takes are, well, extraordinary.
To go back a little to set the stage, on Monday, San Francisco Examiner (one of two hometown newspapers for Pelosi) issued an aggressive editorial announcing that, as between Pelosi and the Archbishop, Pelosi is the way more Christian one of the two because she wants to use your money to help the poor, while the Archbishop is just being a right-wing meanie. I’ll add here two points I meant to include in that post but forgot.
First, Cordelione is entirely in line with Pauline doctrine regarding the appropriate freedom from sin when taking communion. According to 1 Corinthians 11:27, “so then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.” As I understand it, “sinning against the body and blood of the Lord” is on a highway to damnation.
And that brings me to the second point: Namely, that Cordelione is not punishing Pelosi when he prevents her from taking communion. Like a good shepherd, he is protecting her from the consequences of her actions. Because he believes in his faith, and not the faith as leftists wish it to be, he sees Pelosi engaging in, and encouraging others to engage in, a mortal sin and it is incumbent upon him to act both to save her and others.

Whoopi: "The archbishop of San Francisco is calling for speaker Nancy Pelosi to be denied receiving Communion because of her pro-choice stance ... this is not your job, dude. That is not up to you to make that decision."

According to Whoopi, the Archbishop, by denying Pelosi access to communion, has blurred the lines between church and state. Further, she says, “This is not your job, dude. That is not up to you to make that decision.”
Oy, vey, Ms. Goldberg! That’s completely backward. The state may not interfere with the church. However, it IS the Archbishop’s job to intercede in a parishioner’s affairs when church doctrine tells him that the parishioner is on a highway to hell. What kind of religious shepherd would he be if he did nothing as one of his flock wandered ever close to the cliff’s edge?
Imho these two women believe they are the Church and God Almighty must bow down and worship them. They are that vain
I agree with the Archbishop, however I don’t understand him making it public. Wouldn’t this be between Pelosi and her priest? Why don’t we just publish all names of those who are not worthy to receive communion this week?
2 drunk hags bitching when the barkeep cuts one of them off!
Hey Nancy it’s not YOUR religion you’re just a member
Mute point. Pelosi received Communion from a parish in Georgetown. Prolly will find another in Florida when she moves there. So…
(But at least there are some out there , Archbishop Cordileon, who believe the church has some standards )
It is GREAT! People want to walk around thinking that they have a Catholic ticket to Heaven, then they had better at least bow to what the Catholic Church says, PERIOD.
Not just her; she leads others to the cliff by her words and actions.
Watch it. Whoopie twice played a nun in the movies. That should make her a religious expert. How many movies has the Cardinal made.
Vanity is the result of notoriety. Pope Pelosi and WG are both mental lightweights who feel no one or no Being can dictate God’s Law. They seem to believe that it is they who set the Standards of religious beliefs and interpretation of God’s law.
Her public statements require a public response, so other Catholics are warned of the deadly path they are on.
Listening to these creatures can cause your IQ to drop.
RE: Why don’t we just publish all names of those who are not worthy to receive communion this week?
Well, wouldn’t that be making it public?
Politicians like Nancy Pelosi aren’t religious. They claim to be to try to dupe some poor, foolish religious voters into voting for them. The reality is that they don’t believe in anything remotely like Christian teaching on abortion and other social issues. Its just their ruse to fool some voters.
Yep even God can’t dictate God’s laws per these two. They are simply murderers and may God have mercy on them …….
Because not only is she a prominent public figure, she is flaunting her professed faith. Not only that, she is publicly castigating the doctrine of her supposed faith.
The Archbishop is addressing that.
I had read elsewhere that he had been trying to get an audience with Herself and she has gone out of her way to avoid him. Going public was a last resort.
Not sure why Pelosi goes through the performance art of “being Catholic”...clearly she does not care about the church’s teachings or beliefs. Just another sign of her evil. I’m 70 years old and just hope I outlive her; cannot wait to celebrate her death.
“Prolly will find another in Florida when she moves there.”
Well, there goes the neighborhood. ‘Course another gater dropoff sanctuary is always welcome.
