No to Neoconservatism
Compact Magazine ^ | 5/24/2022 | Josh Hawley

Posted on 05/24/2022 7:19:25 PM PDT by PK1991

"Not so long ago, Republicans said they had sworn off nation-building. Following the failure of the neoconservative project in Iraq and Afghanistan, GOP leaders seemed to have learned their lesson. But apparently not. Now nation-building is back with force, with a massive aid package to Ukraine that makes that country a US client state. Up next: a debate over expanding NATO. Many Republicans in Congress have already lined up to support both, almost reflexively. Why?"

The neoconservatives control foreign policy across administrations with a history of disastrous results. Victoria Nuland, who has controlled Ukraine policy for more than a decade, worked for Cheney, Obama and now Biden. Her husband is Robert Kagan, a leading Republican neoconservative. I can't tell if this foolhardy adventurism is intentional to assist defense contractors or blindly irrational. Maybe it all centers on intervening in countries that don't have our "advanced" social values.

Okay, Hawley is now rising in my book. Refreshing. Hope it’s genuine and not just positioning.

That worthless POS W Bush promised “no nation building” when he ran against Gore. It was all a huge neoCON lie, of course.

Hawley is one of the best we’ve got in the Senate.

The Donor Community hates Russia. So do gay activists.

Who could have ever imagined we could speak of a "donor community" un-ironically? In this country?

"Donors" and gay activists hold great sway in the Republican Party. Look no further for your answer.

But for the "Donor Community", the economy has never been better.

Most of the GOP Senators are Bush League Republicans.

The same ones who refuse to secure our border salivate at the opportunity to meddle in other countries.

New Poll (Hypothetical): Do you think the “Donor Community” should give a sizable chunk of their wealth to you if the economy stinks for you but they think it’s never been better for them?

Yes: 100%
No: 0%

Just joking, but I know you get the point. The donor community live in a fantasy world cut off from reality.

“Why?”

Because their Masters (e.g., the movers and shakers at the Davos Economic Forum) think it’s a cool idea to try to dominate the world,

I can’t believe Zelensky goes around asking for $5 billion a month. This is crazy. No wonder Putin has made no effort to eliminate him, shut down the grid, or the internet in Ukraine. The West seems to listen to his nutty requests and grant them. When you thought there couldn’t be another debacle worse than the last they prove you wrong.

I damn well do! That POS was president when the towers came down, then tried to claim credit for ‘keeping us safe’! And then, that POS Bush invaded the WRONG country and wasted American lives and treasure for NOTHING.

Don’t forget that POS Bush shut down air travel on 9/11 EXCEPT TO GET THE BIN LADEN FAMILY OUT OF THE COUNTRY. And then the next day that POS Bush lectured Americans about how Islam was “a religion of peace.”

FU BUSH FAMILY!

I remember that he told us Islam was a religion of peace.
He also failed to secure the border.
He pushed amnesty TWICE.

Why do you people keep calling them GAY; please, just show me one truly happy QUEER!

Just one QUEER/LESBO that doesn’t have a lot of hangups and mental problems.

I had a brother in law that was a QUEER, nice guy, DIED OF AIDS.
Never was very happy with his weird ass life after he decided he was a QUEER!

My dictionary says GAY = happy, carefree, merry outlook on life, etc.

HOMOSEXUAL/LESBIAN = Mental disorder, sexual disfunction, etc.

Now tell me I am a bigot or that I’m wrong!

17. Try getting your history right before going ALL CAPS.

The FAA suspended air travel for three days on 9/11. On 9/14 the suspension was rescinded.

After 9/11 members of the Saudi Royal and Bin Laden families living in the U.S. were afraid of getting killed in the streets. Osama's family disowned him in 1994 and had nothing to do with him. Having members of the Saudi Royal family living in the U.S. lynched would have made matters worse. Whether or not the fear was overblown, they thought it was real, they had connections to the Saudi government, and used them.

After the travel suspension was lifted, starting on 9/20, 140 Saudis left on a six flights chartered by the Saudi government. To date there is no evidence any of those who left had anything to do with 9/11. Zacarias Moussaoui was the only person prosecuted for 9/11 who was in the U.S. at the time who was not a hijacker. All the others were captured outside the U.S. and were not in the country before or on 9/11. No Saudi who left in the weeks after 9/11 was found to be involved in it or any terrorism since.

The entire issue was a political red herring. Most likely Richard Clarke approved it in the heat of the moment, and Bush found out and got blamed for it after the fact.
