The beleaguered CEO of Abbott Laboratories penned a mea culpa to consumers Saturday over the controversial nationwide baby formula shortage — and vows to supply “more formula to Americans than we were in January before the recall.”
Robert Ford apologized to America in an opinion piece on the Washington Post website titled: “We’re sorry about the formula shortage. Here’s what we’re doing to fix it.”

It should not be up to one single privately owned business to manufacture baby formula. I would have thought the military had such facilities already up and running.
First he assassinated Jesse James and now this.
Apparently, Tactical Formula Command wasn’t read into the issue early enough to be of any major impact.....
The children that got sick did not have the same viral or bacterial DNA that was found in the factory.
The USA has four baby formula factories.
That is more than any other country in the world.
The Abbott factory was producing 40% of the USA supply.
It is not a large market - less than 1% of USA families are using baby formula at any given time.
Apparently, the FDA forget to tell anybody that they shut down the Abbott factory.
Why is he apologizing?
Is he the "fall guy" for the bureaucrats?
Robert Ford did not kill himself.
It’s called “regulatory capture”…government and businesses work together to restrict new smaller businesses entering the industry.
Corporatism is the problem.

“He was forced to say that..”
Obviously. He has nothing to be sorry about. It’s the FDA who needs to apologize.
How much supply is that? One day, one year?
How long before that material shows up on the shelf at American grocery stores?
Why didn't the company do that earlier? After all, Abbott is a big name and should have resources available to solve the problem on their own.
Does that one flight end the crisis?
Why am I not moved to believe any word out of his mouth?
Maybe I'm missing something, but why would the military be involved in manufacturing baby formula?
The Coward Robert Ford.
so, you’re a central planner, eh?
>> He was forced to say that..
Indeed.
The supply chain is critical mass to the manufacturers.
The coincidental oopsies across America’s productivity is beyond stupid.
And those pulling the strings... lol. History says their ambitions terminate wanting.
C’mon, lee!
Real teats matter!
