Australian election result 2022: Labor’s Anthony Albanese wins, Prime Minister Scott Morrison Concedes Defeat
The Times ^ | 05/21/2022 | Bernard Lagan

Australians today ejected the rightwing coalition government that has held power for almost a decade. As counting continued after yesterday’s general election, Labor leader Anthony Albanese was expected to form a minority government.

Scott Morrison, the prime minister, conceded defeat in a televised address to party supporters late on Saturday and said he would be resigning as leader of his defeated Liberal Party.

He said: “I’ve always believed in Australians and their judgement, and I’ve always been prepared to accept their verdicts. And tonight they have delivered their verdict and I congratulate Anthony Albanese in the Labor Party.”

Well, looks like its time for a walkabout.

Are there no conservatives in Australia? After the lock downs you’d think the vote would have been more cpnservative but I guess it was the conservatives who supported all of those lockdowns? Looks like it.

‘’Morrison was akin the Bush wing of the Republican Party, he screwed over so many of his supporters they finally gave up on him

————

This is exactly what happens and will happen to more than a few republicans this cycle. The Georgia run-off when 300K republicans didn’t show up is a good example and these people losing is the only chance for change- long term change

In the land down under “right wing” means what we call “left wing” and vice versa.

Most of the worst policies were imposed by state governments, particularly in Victoria, not by the federal government.

It should be noted that the results are not final. While the Liberal/National Coalition appears to have lost, we do not have a final seat count. We do not know if Labor will be forming a minority or majority government, and if majority, how big. It’s not a landslide by any means.

If true, then give them back their right to ufettered access to guns. Methinks you don’t really mean that.

Well, what to say?, if most Aussies were against the lockdowns, then voting Labor is only going to make the lockdowns WORSE.

The Australian states with the most onerous lockdowns are run by labour governments.

It looks like most Aussies are voting for stricter lockdowns by the looks of it.

We too have the dominion voting machines so we too are screwed no matter how many times we vote in the right person that day they’ll just instantly change the totals to favor their chosen left wing socialist candidates.

Boris Johnson is following a similar path to defeat the same path Morrison was on which makes Labor a likely winner in the UK next election

How much more woke is the “labour” party?

So in their wisdom, the Aussies rejected a woke party for a much woker party. I’m sure things will work out much better for them.

“Conservatives will not show up, thinking rightly that doesn’t really matter.”

Sounds like a great way to cut your nose to spite your face.

Actually, it is worse than that.

Most of the crazy lockdown types were in the provinces.

The conservatives were busy “playing by the rules” watching their citizens get turned into slaves.

They excel at losing.

So what Australia has had has BEEN conservatism?

Participating in the five-eyes frame up of Trump in 2016? The dystopian Orwellian covid state, refusing to even let foreigners leave, covid concentration camps... that was their “conservative” party?

SMH.

Not so true.

The brutal, crushing covid lockdowns where done by the various Australian STATE governments. Victoria, for example, is/was led by a notorious Labor (democrat) party (ALP) Premier, Daniel Andrews, who had police busting heads of anyone out and about without a mask. Queensland is led by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk (ALP), South Australia Peter Malinauskas (ALP), Western Australia Mark McGowan (ALP), and Northern Territory Natasha Fyles (ALP). Only the states of New South Wales and Tasmania have Liberal (RINO) leaders.

The Australian federal government doesn’t do epidemic laws—that’s up to the states.
