The House voted Thursday to pass Democrats’ bill aimed at combating “price gouging” on gasoline.
The bill passed 217-207, with no Republicans voting for it and four Democrats voting against it: Reps. Stephanie Murphy (Fla.), Lizzie Fletcher (Texas), Kathleen Rice (N.Y.) and Jared Golden (Maine).

“You have got to be kidding me with this BEEPING crap.”
Americans are stupid. This will appeal to the masses.
Stupid.
Ridiculous
Much of what Congress has passed in the last two+ years has ended up with much gouging going on.
It’s always the ‘profiteers and the hoarders’ who are responsible when the regime needs a fall guy. That’s you and me.
“price-gouging”, aka as “charging what the product is worth to deadbeat Democrats”
The bill most likely allows and encourages price gouging.
I hope it passes the Senate and we have gas lines going into the elections.
Price controls... always favor ‘controllers’... One more stupid blunder on Biden’s part. Can we assume rationing is the next horror?
When will they pass a college tuition gouging bill?
Get ready for the gas lines and empty signs at the stations.
“...would outlaw the selling of fuel at an “excessive” price during an energy emergency, though it does not detail any particular price threshold.”
Which means it’s toothless since it does not define what excessive is. Is 5 cents profit fine, but 6 cents the step too far? 10 cents? 50 cents? Don’t know.
I see this as simply setting up situations where gas station operators are punished with legal fees defending themselves in court over baseless accusations of “excessive”.
Or a government tax gouging bill.
Perhaps it even REQUIRES it underpenalty of law.
They’re just trying to do their very best to cover for their demented “basement dummy” that is a resident in the WH.
All of this is like a dead albatross around their necks that they can’t shrug off, and it’s really beginning to stink to high heaven. So, they’re gonna try and blame anything, anyone and everybody but themselves for the very disaster that they’ve actually created.
They need to be forced to face the Piper.
I’ll gladly take a mean tweet and $2/gal gas.
Good: now we’ll move directly from high prices to actual gas shortages and Dems will pay the political price.
Obviously, Republicans support price gouging, while the benevolent Dems are trying to help.
It’s all “Atlas Shrugged”.
