Turkey has told allies that it will reject Sweden and Finland's membership to NATO, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said in a video posted on his Twitter account on Thursday.

Finland and Sweden formally applied on Wednesday to join U.S.-led NATO, a decision spurred by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Turkey's objections have come as a surprise to the other members of the alliance.

...

The Turkish president said Sweden and Finland harbour and finance "terrorists" and supply them with weapons, repeating Ankara's accusation that the countries supports groups that it deems terrorists, namely the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militant group and Syrian Kurdish YPG, which it also views as a terrorist group closely tied to the PKK.

Monkey wrench in the NATO gears.

Turkey, like Russia, invaded another country (Cyprus) and is still occupying a part of it. Birds of a feather.

Turkey might change it’s mind if the USA $$$ is right. It also might stay pat if the money from Russia and China is right. They aren’t dopey when it comes to the idiots representing Uncle Sap.

NATO has rules and member nations have a right to say no. Only takes one.

Or are they going to go rogue again, kick Turkey out, as they went rogue on behalf of Odumba (when Biden was VP) when they offensively bombed Libya when no NATO members were threatened and on unproven allegations that Gaddafi was going to kill 10k of his own people with the U.S. “leading from behind”?

But to the MIC warmongering, empire crowd think NATO can do whatever it wants and it’s all good, break rules, etc, just like Odumba and Biden do.

A former co-worker of mine was a Turk, secular Muslim and army veteran. He told me it was easiest to think about Turkey as an army in search of a country and the government as a kleptocracy supported by the army.

This was more than a decade ago. Don't know if it is still true.

Whoops, sounds like the Neocons didn’t bother to check with Turkey prior to inviting those countries in. Arrogant IDIOTS.

Well, Sweden is harboring terrorists: among all those unvetted Muslims living in Malmo.

I don’t think either NATO or Putin are expecting fierce martial spirit from the spineless, multi-culti, effeminate cucks in Sweden or Finland. But the issue for both is over bases that much closer to Russia.

Turkey, on the other hand, is much more a wild-card. Erdogan and the Turks can cause a lot more trouble for the EU, NATO and the deep-state’s schemes if he isn’t bought off.

Time to put the screws to Turkey. Can’t boot them out, but I’d much rather have Finland and Sweden than Turkey. So perhaps an alternative alliance may be necessary.

It’s a nice description that I think was probably much more true when it was still a Kemalist country. Now that it has gone Islamist, I think that’s probably much less true.

Sweden and Finland both punch above their weight militarily. Much more capable than the vast majority of other NATO members.

Turkey will be a big problem down the road. In fact, Russia is probably the only thing that is keeping Turkey from being a big problem now.

Yes agree Turkey should have been booted out. Turkey was ONLY allowed in NATO because they had such a key geographical location to defend against the Warsaw Pact. Without the WP they are a rogue Islamist State standing out like a sore thumb in NATO.

Few countries can boast of more genocides than Turkey in the last 125 years. Supposedly they even gave Hitler the idea for the Holocaust.
