United States officials say that Russia blocked the U.S. Embassy from visiting detained WNBA star Brittney Griner multiple times in May.
In February, Russian officials detained Griner after allegedly finding cannabis vape cartridges in her luggage. Since then, Griner has reportedly had her detention stays extended at least twice, including in the last week.

On an unrelated note, “The Ugly American” by William J. Lederer and Eugene Burdick was a good book. I read it in high school in 1965.
Before going to a foreign country, I would triple check everything to make sure I have nothing considered illegal in that country
It is a wise policy to familiarize yourself with the Laws, Rules, and Regulations of a Foreign Country you intend to visit.
