from the article:
“..Earlier, the commander of the Azov Regiment, Denys Prokopenko, said that they had completed the task, and that it was important to save the lives of the military.
Also, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that the defenders of Mariupol complied with the order and restrained the Russian invaders for almost 2 months, and now they are fulfilling the order to save their lives...”
It’s kinda similar on how the Germans evacuated from Stalingrad.
The Nazov army tied down a lot of RUssian troops for a long time.
83 days of resistance killing how many Russians and degrading and tying down how many BTGs? A major effect for such a small force.
As the Japanese in WW2 suffered ever increasing losses the internal propaganda machine claimed ever more huge victories.
Nothing changes.
...except the Germans invaded Stalingrad...so no difference, except that.
It was a “heroic evacuation”.
Having taken this long to have Russia have a win should be totally embarrassing. They did a find job defending their homeland against the invaders
I am wondering if any members of the Azov Regiment are going to survive captivity.
Its a victory for the Russians but the Ukrainians deserve medals every one. They went above and beyond.
You do know Mariupol voted 90%+ to break away from the Ukraine in 2014 and join the other independent provences...
And was brutally invaded and crushed by the Ukrainian military to include the beginning of the neo nazi Azov battalion. Then brutally occupied by them?
Hey...lookie that. History REPEATS!!!
I’ve watched many many Ukro POW interviews via Telegram, as well as mercenaries, they all speak of disarray in the units, weapons that don’t fire or lack of ammo. And the normal conscripts are all afraid of the various Azov and SS battalions. The Russians are being very smart and filming all of this, unlike the Ukros who stupidly have been posting videos of atrocities on social media, all while bragging they don’t take prisoners. Well, they also leave their own wounded behind... luckily many have been picked up and treated by the DPR and Russian Forces. I also watched a longer video where about 50 Ukros were made to watch film footage of the atrocities their country ( not necessarioly them) committed in the Eastern Provinces over the last 8 years. Many were visibly upset, as this was primarily the purview of Azov and not the normal armed forces..
Quite a few of them are guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity for the last eight years.
And they are being held by the DPR who the neo nazis killed thousands.
“I am wondering if any members of the Azov Regiment are going to survive captivity.”
The Japanese did fight heroically, even ferociously and of course sometimes viciously.
I don’t think anyone questioned that for a moment.
The propaganda game was that we banned them for honoring their war heros.
One definition of the winner of wars is that the winners get to write the history—and make the rules.
We’re not retreating, we’re just advancing in a different direction.”

“I am sincerely outraged by the way this controversial event is presented by our authorities and the media. They are trying to file a forced surrender as a victory.”
The US State Dept and CIA controls all messaging on this subject.
Ukraine just does as they are told.
You do know that Mariupol was still part of Ukraine, and it takes more than some local vote to break up a country, right?
I get that its complicated politics. Complicated politics do not justify a lawless free for all invasion.
“...SS battalions...”
What absolute Moscow propaganda garbage from KGB Putin who does know a lot about propaganda. My wife is one of those Russian-speakers from the Donbas and she and her family and friends know who has been committing atrocities. They may speak Russian but since the fake “separatist” movement started, they hate Russians with a passion.
“A major effect for such a small force.”
Legendary.
Now Russian forces will regroup, resupply and move on to the next city...which is not likely to have an underground labyrinth.
I would guess that city to be Odessa.
