I get my info direct from eyewitnesses, people actually in Ukraine, through their friend and relative who happens to be my wife who is from Donetsk, and hates the russians with a fierce passion.
You and all the other pro-russia Freepers (who aren’t actual paid russian trolls) have had the luxury of living your whole pampered comfortable lives in the USA, and never experienced life under russian occupation, and it shows. It’s exactly like the academic campus marxists extolling the virtues of socialism while living high off the riches only a capitalist society can provide. You’re totally comfortable condemning millions to slavery, while feeling sanctimonious self-satisfaction at your superior knowledge and morals. Who’s celebrating or rejoicing at anything. It’s a fact and that’s that is all. When VZ commits some troops to driving the Russians out, I’ll be happy. But as it is, I see no steps being taken.

Ukraine kills 200 Russian aircraft, sinks half a dozen irreplaceable Russian ships, immolates 600+ tanks, drives the Russians back from Kyiv and Kharkiv, and Russia triumphantly conquers a steel mill after an 88-day siege.

If you read the press.. the Ukrainians simply evacuated.

In the North and the West, Ukraine is winning. In the Southeast, however, they just lost a major contest. Their remaining port is Odessa, and without that they will be land-locked. I expect VZ is nobody’s fool. Somehow a TV clown has managed to humiliate a KGB veteran with a wealth of petrol and cannon fodder. But if he doesn’t get back Mariupol, or retake Sebastopol in the Crimea, he’ll be hard-pressed to hold onto Odessa, and if he loses that, he’ll be in deep sh!t even if he drives the Russians out of every inch of Ukraine, other than the Black Sea ports.
Are you under the impression that Russia wants to occupy Kiev or do you think they want the Russian-speaking parts of the country to be safe. Has all peace negotiations been attempted?
True. At this point I’m pretty confident that Putin has killed more Russian generals than the Ukies have.
We are down to some really basic sh!t here, and a growing number of Americans frankly don’t have the time or the interest to deal with crap that goes on halfway around the world.

I keep seeing the constant accusation that numerous Freepers are “pro-Russia” (which is undoubtedly true of some who impulsively dislike Ukraine for various reasons, mostly related to Democrat shenanigans), when in the majority of instances it comes down to the following reasons, at least as far as I can tell:
- It’s not our fight;
- After 20+ years of foreign interventions (with little to show for them other than increased chaos and disorder throughout the Middle East), the appetite for another one is minimal to nonexistent;
- The combined and near-unanimous support for Ukraine on all sides of the political aisle (especially from the usual neocon suspects) makes them automatically suspicious of what’s being reported.
Russia isn’t a place I’d want to live; but given its own problems with corruption (among the highest in Europe), I wouldn’t want to live in Ukraine either.

Russian-speaking parts of the country were perfectly safe, until russian troops started ‘vacationing’ there and shooting down civilian airliners. This whole invasion / dismemberment of the country has been orchestrated from Day 1 (in 2014) by putin. Britain and France negotiated the German-speaking Sudetenland away from Czechoslovakia and gave it to hitler in the name of ‘peace negotiations’ to keep people ‘safe’. How did that work out?
