One of Putin's top propagandists has declared Russia's offensive in the Donbas region has failed as incredible pictures show the inside of the steel plant at Azovstal which has been under siege for much of the war.
Russian intelligence officer and commander Igor Girkin took to his Telegram channel to summarise the situation for Russian forces in Ukraine and said their intention was 'so obvious' that Ukraine Armed Forces have been able to resist.

🇬🇧🇺🇦 Offensive on Donbass: the situation in the east of Ukraine by the end of May 16, 2022 (map at site)
🔻The situation in the north of the Kharkiv region continues to deteriorate.
▪️Mobile sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine operate on the eastern bank of the Seversky Donets. Separate small columns were seen on the near approaches to Volchansk .
Presumably, the crossing was built in the Khotomli region , the work of Ukrainian MLRS is also noted there. Local residents do not confirm the entrance of units to the settlement itself.
The transfer of the main Ukrainian forces to the eastern coast has not yet begun: the Armed Forces of Ukraine operate precisely in mobile groups, periodically probing the defenses of the RF Armed Forces and aiming artillery.
▪️Battles near Cossack Lopan : the Russian Armed Forces managed to defeat one Ukrainian DRG, taking two Ukrainian servicemen prisoner. Russian forces fire barrage at Ukrainian positions.
🔻In the Donetsk region, the offensive is successfully developing in several directions at once.
▪️On the Liman direction, the allied forces occupied Novoselka , Drobyshevo , Shandrigolovo , cutting the Liman-Svyatogorsk highway .
▪️To the north of Avdiivka advance on several sectors of the front at once.
Novoselovka II was taken, battles are going on for Kamenka . Novoselovka was taken , Troitskoe was cleared . The first reports were received of the entry of Russian forces into New York : there are battles for the outskirts. Units of the 54th and 110th OMB of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are suffering losses.
▪️Seriously wounded nationalists surrendered at the Mariupol Azovstal plant . Ukrainian propaganda filed all this as part of an insidious and well-thought-out plan.
🔻Active hostilities continue in the Luhansk region.
▪️Near Severodonetsk , fighting began for the villages of Shchedrishchevo and Voronovo located to the north of the city . To the south, Toshkovka
was taken under full control .
▪️From Popasna there is an offensive in three directions.
One direction of the offensive is through Novozvanovka towards the Trinity and Svetlodar arcs.
The second - through the village of Druzhba along the railway to Tripoli , cutting off the Seversk grouping from Bakhmut and leveling the front line.
The third direction of the strike is through Alexandropol to Kamyshevakha and Vrubovka , closing the enemy’s Severodonetsk-Lisichansk grouping into the cauldron
🔻Near Malinovka in the Zaporozhye region, the Armed Forces of Ukraine made an unsuccessful attempt at a counteroffensive and suffered heavy losses (up to 230 people were killed and wounded).
That dude is excellent.
Don’t you know 20,000 Russian tanks and 1/3 of the Russian army has been destroyed along with 100 dead Russian generals. I’m pretty sure Ukraine killed Godzilla also. Lol. Pretty sad anyone believes anything our government or Nato says. Our side is illegitimate and also the bad guys now. All the western leaders are placed in power by the elite. Putin and Russia are doing us a favor and not our enemies.
Girkin strangely failed to say anything about who controls the strategic town of Popasna. That is in line with the global lame stream media.
There is a lot of money floating around Ukraine these days, and it would be interesting to see how easily people with questionable morals like Girkin can be bought off.
Uh-oh, you’re gonna stir up all the Zelensky-Sorosbot globalist nutter disciples on FR.
In my post #1, I stated if was from Girkin's channel on May 16. Popasna was taken by Russian May 7/8, a week earlier. Other than forming a salient into Ukrainian territory, which is bad enough, there is nothing particularly strategic about its location.
Girkin was writing about the overall situation in the Donetsk as he saw it. As I already stated in my first post, he is the Minister of Defense of the Donetsk People's Republic, and is the best position to know the overall picture in his area. He did not mention Popasna nor any of dozens other minor or major places. He was not writing about them so he did not mention them.
it would be interesting to see how easily people with questionable morals like Girkin can be bought off.
Look him up. He can't be bought off. He chose his side a long time ago.
Russian, LPR forces control situation in Popasnaya - head of Chechnya
Ramzan Kadyrov once again called on Ukrainian forces to lay down their weapons
GROZNY, May 5. /TASS/. The situation in the town of Popasnaya, Lugansk People’s Republic, is under control of Russian and LPR forces, head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov said in his Telegram channel Thursday.
“The situation in Lugansk People’s Republic town of Popasnaya is under control of Russian forces and LPR military units. […] The town is located on an elevation, and so Ukrainian bandit units cling to every meter of favorable and perfectly fire-swept position,” Kadyrov said.

Popasnaya is an important point for advancing the Eastern cauldron from the south.
Wikipedia:
Igor Vsevolodovich Girkin (Russian: И́горь Все́володович Ги́ркин, IPA: [ˈiɡərʲ ˈfsʲevələdəvʲɪtɕ ˈɡʲirkʲɪn],; 17 December 1970),[2] also known by the alias Igor Ivanovich Strelkov (Russian: И́горь Ива́нович Стрелко́в, IPA: [ˈiɡərʲ ɪˈvanəvʲɪtɕ strʲɪlˈkof]), is a Russian army veteran and former Federal Security Service (FSB) officer who played a key role in the Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, and later the War in Donbas as an organizer of militant groups of the Donetsk People’s Republic’s.[3][4][5]
Girkin led a group of militants into Ukraine where he participated in the Siege of Sloviansk. During the battle he increased his influence and ultimately became the de-facto military commander of all separatist forces in the Donbas region, which was confirmed by the “prime minister” Alexander Borodai of the Donetsk People’s Republic who appointed him as official Defense Minister.[5][6][7]
Girkin, a self-described Russian nationalist, was charged by Ukrainian authorities with terrorism.[8] He has been sanctioned by the European Union for his leading role in the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine.[9] Ukrainian authorities have called him a retired colonel of the GRU (Russia’s external military intelligence organisation).[9][10][11]
In 2014 he reportedly believed that the “liberal clans” (liberal part of Russian elites) must be destroyed in favor of “law enforcement” ones.[12][13] On 28 May 2016 he formed the Russian National Movement, a political group in favor of “uniting the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Belarus, and other Russian lands into a single all-Russian state and transforming the entire territory of the former USSR into an unconditional zone of Russian influence.”[14]
Girkin is an alleged war criminal.[15] On 19 June 2019, Dutch prosecutors charged Girkin for murder in the shoot-down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17,[16][17][18] and issued an international arrest warrant against him.[19]
Military commandant of Donetsk
In office
6 June 2014 – 14 August 2014
“since the winning side always calls the losing side to request a ceasefire”
Russia kept asking Azov to surrender too.
Russia either feared it was going to get such a spanking from Azov that it relied on a face-saving surrender to end things with minimal casualties , or it totally believed that a resounding, swift victory by Russia was unavoidable.
Russia believes its own hype, to thf extreme of repeatedly assaulting the same locations over and over again with the exact same tactics, and then wondering how the Ukes keep spanking them. Most recently with that river crossing debacle where even the first failure should’ve forced a rethink.
So the second explanation makes sense. Russia just doesn’t have a healthy relationship with inconvenient truth.
I think the American motive is different. Austin must know, Russia had no palatable exit strategy beyond winning decisively; with that decisive victory a no-show it’s in dire need of a way to withdraw from the war without it being even more completely humiliated on the battlefield.
Igor Girkin, is a Russian national and the "Minister of Defence of the Donetsk People's Republic".
Gurkin was the Minister of Defense for the People's Republic of Donetsk from 16 May 2014 – 14 August 2014. He is no longer in Donetsk.
If in fact Russian officers have been killing their own wounded, then perhaps war crimes investigators can find which country’s bullets killed these soldiers if Russian officers use different ammunition.
Dailymail calling someone a top propagandist? LOL
Because our news/information is censored and controlled most Americans BELIEVE the indoctrination we have been subjected to. Unfortunately, though for our owners/elitists/oligarchs (call them whatever you wish) there is now an abundance of factual information available outside of their control and more of us are slowly becoming aware of reality.
It is going to be interesting to watch the lights come on for our fellow freepers who have been waking up more slowly.
That’s why the remaining soldiers from the steel plant are being evacuated/surrendering. 😏
No, he isn't...and no he doesn't.
Girkin was a hardliner who wanted to recreate 'New Russia' out of Eastern Ukraine eight years ago. Instead he got called back to Moscow and "retired" by President Putin. Girkin has been out of the loop at the Kremlin since then and he's been a disgruntled observer of Russia/Ukraine affairs for quite a while.
Girkin's essential complaint is that everything Russia is doing today to secure its national security interests in the Ukraine could have been done eight years ago at a much lower cost in terms of blood and treasure...and he blames Putin personally for making that error. This view taints all of his analysis of the current operation, and explains his unrelenting pessimism.
Girkin is the Russian equivalent of Scott Ritter and plays a similar dissenter role in the overall debate...that's all.
There is a good site on YouTube that indicates positions on a map daily.
For much of the battle front, Russia is stalled by a river. Recently Russian units attempting to cross a smaller river were annihilated.
It looks to me that the same is true of Ukraine units that will be unable to attack across the same river.
Thus, that river becomes the new border and site of a stalemate
🇬🇧 Russian servicemen in the Zaporizhia direction stopped an attempted counterattack by Ukrainian armed formations
◽️An attempt to attack units of the RF Armed Forces with the forces of two Ukrainian mechanized battalions on tanks and infantry fighting vehicles was made near the village of Vyshneve , Zaporozhye region.
◽️The advancing of enemy armored vehicles and preparations for the attack were discovered by Russian UAV crews and technical reconnaissance equipment .
💥UAVs and artillery units hit the enemy armored vehicles during its advancement and deployment at the attack line , after which the attack undertaken by the enemy was repulsed by fire from the armament of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and using modern anti-tank weapons .
💥 The retreating Ukrainian tanks and infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed by artillery fire.
📊As a result of the futile adventure of the Kiev regime, 26 Ukrainian tanks, 12 infantry fighting vehicles and about 100 militants were destroyed.
