The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said they arrested a man wanted for siphoning gas in Felton and stealing high-end bicycles in Scotts Valley.

On Saturday night, a deputy saw suspect, Mark Cox, riding a specialized road bike in downtown Felton. Knowing he was wanted for the above crimes, they stopped and arrested him, according to the sheriff's office.

The deputy checked the bike and saw that it was a $3,000 carbon frame bike stolen in Scotts Valley. Cox was arrested and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on various charges, according to police.

The sheriff's office said Cox stole fuel from several vehicles from a business in Felton.

It must be hard to siphon gas when you are riding around on a bicycle?

If you are riding a bike, what do you do with the gas, anyway?

Curious as to how much gas he was stealing . Was he on his bike ? Anymore than a couple gallons would be unwieldy while riding that fancy bike , I’m guessing he was stealing it while on foot or had a get away vehicle.

I used to spend time in Scots Valley back when Santa’s Village was there.

$3,000 bike: when I was his age, I could have bought 2 VWs, or a Camaro, for that!
How times have changed!

Deball him, give him a bandaid and tell him not to do that anymore.

No. I helped start-up National Semiconductor in 1967 in Santa Clara. I had friends who lived in Scots Valley and I also spent some time at the Chateau there in the mountains. (A long. long time ago)

The best bike for commuting is the Dutch style bike. Cheaper and more comfortable

In the present spectrum of sporting bike prices, $3000 is no more than mid-range. Here in the UK and elsewhere in Europe, it’s not difficult to spend £10,000 on a bike if you want to.

Meanwhile in this city where bikes are often stolen I recommend Walmart bikes for a couple years of local travel which are sometimes as low as $100 for a 26'' men's bike, which you cannot build for close to that.
