Multiple people have been hit during a shooting at a church in the Laguna Woods area of Orange County, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
The suspected shooter at the church, in the 24000 block of El Toro Road, is in police custody, the OCSD said.
The gun used in the shooting has been recovered, the OCSD said. Deputies are still at the scene.

I’m glad so many in our congregation are packing. And we have deacons who take turns patrolling the premises and standing at the doors during services.
True, the media and politicians have contributed mightily to the paranoia on both sides. Still, we are free to take the bait and let it get to us or not.
But purposely “letting him explode” to “serve an agenda”? Like the cops are sitting around rubbing their hands with glee at the certain prospect this kid will “explode”? Nah.
Yes, he came to the attention of authorities last year. But after LE had him sectioned and thought he was getting the mental health care he needed, and he left public school and went off to college, he likely wasn’t followed closely by LE any longer. There is no record of him being reported to LE or any run-ins with the law after the threats made at school which were handled by LE, case closed. They can’t exactly keep a 24/7 watch on every troubled kid or mentally ill person indefinitely.
Perhaps our present laws and mental healthcare system are not up to the task of preventing such horrible massacres by mentally ill people. Maybe we need to improve our mental health system.
There is much we don’t know. We don’t know whether anyone was aware he was planning this. If anyone knew, who? His fellow nuts on 4chan or Discord? If so, did they report it to LE? They don’t seem the type to report, but hey. He apparently didn’t last long at college, so if he left or was kicked out before he totally went off the deep end and started planning this, how would anyone at the college know and report it? Did his family know? Did he have any friends who knew? These are all questions we have no answers for yet.
I’m not going to blame LE for “letting him explode”. If you insist on doing so, that’s your business.

Orange County Sheriff is providing an update right now.
Shooter was originally from China and was upset at Taiwan. He deliberately targeted these Taiwanese churchgoers.
“Politically motivated hate crime.”
He drove to Orange County over the weekend and meticulously planned the attack. First, he chained the doors of the church closed and used superglue on the locks, then opened fire on a group gathered for a luncheon. The carnage would have been far worse if he hadn’t been subdued by people present. A 52-year old man, a doctor, was killed while trying to subdue him.
Both firearms were legally purchased by the suspect in Las Vegas. Both are 9mm handguns.
He also planted molotov cocktail bombs in the building.
Federal charges are possible and they would include the possibility of the death penalty.

If it was my destiny to be gunned down, I think I’d like that to happen in a church where I was reaffirming my faith and praising the Lord with others.
