Bull Market: Barnette Appears To Have Fudged Wall Street Career
Washington Free Beacon ^ | May 13, 2022 3:15 pm | Chuck Ross

Posted on 05/13/2022 1:18:41 PM PDT by conservative98

Pennsylvania Senate candidate Kathy Barnette says she "worked on Wall Street for many years." She's about 955 miles off.

Barnette, a conservative commentator, cited her experience on Wall Street in 2011 and 2020, and in an attack on Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. "I worked 4 years on Wall Street. Would u invest money w/ someone who was filing bankruptcy?" she wrote of Trump's finances in 2016.

But Barnette's official résumé suggests she worked far from the domain of "bulls, bears, [and] people from Connecticut." She has held three jobs in the financial services industry, according to a now-deleted LinkedIn profile. She was an associate analyst at the Missouri-based A.G. Edwards from 1997 to 1999, and a financial equity analyst at "Banc of America Capital Management," her résumé says. She described the latter as a "major Wall Street firm" but worked for the company in St. Louis.

A Washington Free Beacon geographic analysis found that Wall Street is in New York City, not St. Louis. There is a Wall Street in the midwestern town, but it is largely residential.

The inconsistency emerges as Barnette faces other questions about her background. Barnette, whose surge in polls has caught opposing GOP campaigns by surprise, gave contradictory answers about whether she voted for Trump in the 2016 primary. She claimed this week she did, but said in her 2020 book, "I didn’t vote for Trump in the primaries." Barnette opposed Trump during much of the 2016 campaign, saying his moral character was "questionable," but said she joined the "Trump train" by the general election. Barnette insisted this week she voted for Trump in 2016, but the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette reported she did not cast a ballot in Pennsylvania until 2018..

Unfortunately dear fellow freeper it is you that are trying to find a path to whitewash a boast and an attempt to inflate a resume. Better to just admit that the statement was ill made and move on to her good points.

You are so funny. I have close family working on Wall St at S & P and have been active as an investment agent for a closely held trust for decades, not on Wall Street, LOL.
Have a good evening and believe what you will.

She wiped the debate stage with Oz and McCormick—and doesn’t deserve your condescension.

You’re either lying or, if not, a dolt. Or a bought-off shill. Sorry.

Here’s write up about “How to work on Wall Street”. And they don’t mean lower Manhattan but the industry when they say “ON”.

I can post these all day long showing you are wrong.

What is Wall Street?

Wall Street is the name of a street in Manhattan that is home to the New York Stock Exchange where many financial institutions are centered. It’s also used to describe the capital finance market and the institutions, people or activities involved in banking or finance.

“How To Get A Job On Wall Street”

Another one where they use ON and mean the industry.

It’s not my family member.

I have been around a lot of different types of people in the biz. One of my favorites developed a concept/program used today by Bloomberg..and later worked for a hedge fund. Brilliant. He didn’t run around claiming he worked on Wall Street. He didn’t go around bragging how many people use his program on Bloomberg.

Barnette used puffery to build herself up. She deserves to get called out on it.

“When you say you work on Wall Street you are talking about the literal street ...”

Not quite. It means that you work in the financial district in lower Manhattan, not necessarily on the literal street. If you work at the HQ of Goldman Sachs on West Street in the financial district, you work “on” Wall Street in the sense that it is universally understood in the financial industry.

Yes.. it’s reorganization as I said. Kathy and HRC know that. most of the public who doesn’t know that files ch. 7 to wipe out all debt.
She was intentionally being deceptive and you know it.

There are no financial advisors who work on Wall Street. Taxi drivers and bus drivers work on Wall Street. If financial advisors attempted to work on Wall Street, they would get run over. Some financial advisors work in buildings along Wall Street. Some work in adjunct offices of Wall Street businesses.

No financial advisors actually literally work on Wall Street.

See? I can split hairs, too.

If I met someone at a party and they told me they worked on Wall Street and then proceeded to tell me it was the office a mile away from me I would just roll my eyes . You are trying hard to use random links about what it means to work ON Wall Street. It’s a gray area. It’s not quite as gray to people who actually work ON Wall Street.

But when you write that you “worked on Wall Street” as Barnette apparently did in her now-deleted LinkedIn bio, it is widely interpreted that you worked in the financial district in lower Manhattan. Over the years, many of my former students took jobs in the financial services industry. Some of them worked “on Wall Street” in the financial district in New York but most of them worked for regional investment firms in cities like Atlanta and Charlotte. None of the latter would have put on their resume that they worked “on” Wall Street.

Let’s see in 3 days we’ve had them claim:

She wasn’t honorably discharged or didn’t serve…. Debunked

She was lying about the college she worked for… debunked

Today she lied about her Wall Street job…

Anyone want to wager how this one will turn out?

I can just imagine how an interview would go if someone said they worked on Wall Street and then said it was at the local Shearson Lehman (before they went under) or Fidelity.
