Bull Market: Barnette Appears To Have Fudged Wall Street Career
Washington Free Beacon ^ | May 13, 2022 3:15 pm | Chuck Ross

Posted on 05/13/2022 1:18:41 PM PDT by conservative98

Pennsylvania Senate candidate Kathy Barnette says she "worked on Wall Street for many years." She's about 955 miles off.

Barnette, a conservative commentator, cited her experience on Wall Street in 2011 and 2020, and in an attack on Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. "I worked 4 years on Wall Street. Would u invest money w/ someone who was filing bankruptcy?" she wrote of Trump's finances in 2016.

But Barnette's official résumé suggests she worked far from the domain of "bulls, bears, [and] people from Connecticut." She has held three jobs in the financial services industry, according to a now-deleted LinkedIn profile. She was an associate analyst at the Missouri-based A.G. Edwards from 1997 to 1999, and a financial equity analyst at "Banc of America Capital Management," her résumé says. She described the latter as a "major Wall Street firm" but worked for the company in St. Louis.

A Washington Free Beacon geographic analysis found that Wall Street is in New York City, not St. Louis. There is a Wall Street in the midwestern town, but it is largely residential.

The inconsistency emerges as Barnette faces other questions about her background. Barnette, whose surge in polls has caught opposing GOP campaigns by surprise, gave contradictory answers about whether she voted for Trump in the 2016 primary. She claimed this week she did, but said in her 2020 book, "I didn’t vote for Trump in the primaries." Barnette opposed Trump during much of the 2016 campaign, saying his moral character was "questionable," but said she joined the "Trump train" by the general election. Barnette insisted this week she voted for Trump in 2016, but the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette reported she did not cast a ballot in Pennsylvania until 2018..

As I understand it she was scanning and gathering info from financial reports of investments and potential investments for BofA CAM. BTW, hedge funds generally aren’t actually physically located “on Wall Street” either.

A.G. Edwards, who she also worked for, was a broker/dealer “on the Street”. (That would be on the sell as opposed to buy side of the business, which is generally considered more closely related to “Wall Street” than hedge funds.)

“Actually working on Wall Street”.

So does that mean employees of firms physically located on Broad or New street can’t say they work on Wall Street? According to the gnat strainers they could not do so.

“EXACTLY what did she do as she worked on Wall Street.”

Read the excerpt above.

“She has held three jobs in the financial services industry, according to a now-deleted LinkedIn profile. She was an associate analyst at the Missouri-based A.G. Edwards from 1997 to 1999, and a financial equity analyst at “Banc of America Capital Management,” her résumé says”

“Both AG Edwards & Sons and BOA Asset Mgmt are both widely and traditionally described as Wall Street firms, office location is irrelevant.”

Our financial advisor works for a Morgan Stanley affiliated firm in Atlanta. He would never claim that he works *on* Wall Street. He might say that he works *for* a Wall Street firm. Prepositions are important.

These hit pieces have convinced me......convinced me that, although I can’t vote for her, I can send her a donation.

If that was what she said it would be fine but that is not what I saw.

Pennsylvania Senate candidate Cathy Barnett says she “worked on Wall Street for many years.” That’s about 955 miles away.

Conservative commentator Barnett cited experience on Wall Street in 2011 and 2020 and attacks on Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. “I’ve worked 4 years on Wall Street. Would you invest money with someone who was filing for bankruptcy?” She wrote of Trump’s finances in 2016. (BTW Trump never declared personal bankruptcy, he used Chapter 11 for some business segments & creditors were paid.)

But Barnett’s official résumé shows that she has “bull, bear, [and] People from Connecticut.” According to the now-deleted LinkedIn profile, she has held three jobs in the financial services industry. She was an associate analyst at Missouri-based AG Edwards and a financial equity analyst at “Bank of America” from 1997 to 1999. Capital Management,” says the resume. She described the latter as a “major Wall Street firm” but worked for the company in St. Louis.

“I doubt any of the big “Wall Street” firms are actually located on Wall Street.”

“Wall Street” refers to the financial district in lower Manhattan. Everyone in the financial industry understands this. There is no firm more synonymous with “Wall Street” than Goldman Sachs. Its main offices are on West Street in the financial district, not Wall Street.

“Both AG Edwards & Sons and BOA Asset Mgmt are both widely and traditionally described as Wall Street firms, office location is irrelevant.”

If an AG Edwards employee says she works “on” Wall Street (rather than *for* a Wall Street firm), but her office is in Peoria, IL, please don’t let her handle your investments.

Did you even read what you posted? She tried to trick people by explicitly stating AG Edwards was a based in Missouri? That's so sneaky...

"She was an associate analyst at Missouri-based AG Edwards and a financial equity analyst at “Bank of America” from 1997 to 1999. Capital Management,” says the resume. "

“Wall Street is used as an umbrella term to describe the financial markets and the companies that trade publicly on exchanges throughout the U.S.”

Yes I did. She did not work on Wall Street despite saying she had. The things I posted were from her deleted linked-in resume..
That’s called fact checking
What she said was that she worked on Wall Street.

You needed to read a little further, about Wall St vs Main St and the conclusion. When you say you work on Wall Street you are talking about the literal street, not a global community of financial organizations, unless you want to pretend to be something you are not. Otherwise a banker in a small Indian village also works on Wall St.

The Bottom Line
Wall Street is both a literal street and a symbol. It’s home to a variety of financial and investment firms, along with institutions like the New York Stock Exchange and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Globally, it’s also come to connote the U.S. finance and investment community and industry: its interests, attitudes, and behavior.

Worked in or on is Bill Clinton meaning of “is” nit picking. The point she was making was she worked in the financial world of Wall Street, not physically in lower Manhattan.

But she didn’t and that’s the point.
She was giving herself airs claiming a sophistication and experience level she didn’t have to give credence to her remarks about Trump.

“Otherwise a banker in a small Indian village also works on Wall St.”

So you missed this part of the definitions posted: “throughout the U.S.”

The banker in the small Indian village could be one of the many who do customer service for a US financial firm. Did you miss that part?

Freegards & good night. I think you do this candidate a disservice by your attempts since you draw attention to her flaws.

No, no, no. That is just not so. It clearly describes the contrasting “Main St” reference as involving small businesses and individual investors.

I take it you not only haven’t worked in the financial world, but you haven’t been in the business world at a serious level either. If you are that clueless, just stop spewing false information.

She’s way beyond Peter’s Principle. Listening to her little speeches and books, I’d say she’s pretty much a social worker on the level of what Obama was.
