Joe Biden calls Sweden, Finland leaders as nations weigh NATO membership

President Biden held a secure phone call Friday morning with the president of Finland and the prime minister of Sweden, one day after Finnish officials indicated they were looking to quickly apply for NATO membership following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The president’s call with Swedish PM Magdelana Andersson and Finnish President Sauli Niinistö lasted close to 40 minutes, the White House said.

Love to hear that call.
When Senile Joe calls a non-English-speaker, a skilled translator who is wise to the intended, scripted talking points can stick to the talking points no matter what Joe mumbles and mangles.
But Finns and Swedes speak English better than Joe Biden can, so I’d love to hear a recording of the call.

NATO expansion was Hillary’s job.

Finland’s surrender to USSR in WW2 [as Finland was an Axis Ally] had a stipulation of neutrality for perpetuity. Nazi’s used Finland to stage the siege of Stalingrad, which killed 1 million civilians. Do you think the russkies forgot that?
Russia re-ratified that treaty at Finland’s request after USSR dissolved.
So Finland is apparently ready to renounce the treaty granting it sovereignty following its defeat in WW2, which is the legal basis for its continued existence.
Treaties matter. History matters. American ignorance of that history will lead us into a devastating conflict.
