May 12 (UPI) -- Some $40 billion in U.S. aid for Ukraine has been delayed after Sen. Rand Paul held up a vote on the legislation Thursday over objections to language in the bill.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell sought to set up a vote on the legislation Thursday.

Paul initially sought to add an amendment that would put the Afghanistan inspector general in charge of overseeing U.S. aid to Ukraine. But he later blocked the votes on the bill and amendment, instead wanting to include language in the legislation creating the inspector general oversight.

"My oath of office is to the U.S. Constitution, not to any foreign nation ... We cannot save Ukraine by dooming the U.S. economy," Paul said on the Senate floor.

Team Biden and the industrial military complex would disagree.

A generally useful Senator who in this case has no long term vision.

Rand is right...Replenish EVERYTHING that has been sent to Ukraine...and let the EU do the rest. Why is the USA always the No. 1 sucker when something is awry.

And replenish everything we left in Afghanistan that we left for the Taliban.

And stop with the baby food shortage...there's absolutely no excuse.

Ukraine is fighting invasion with hunting rifles.
They need all the help they can get ASAP. Yesterday was too late.
Paul cannot actually stop the bill, but he can slow it down.
So no savings, but thousands will died because of help delayed.
In general I like Paul, but this is selfish show, not helping anybody!

I agree. Who knows where this money is actually going in Ukraine. I still wonder if this war isn’t a big money payoff to Ukraine to protect Biden/Hunter.

Good. When the bill came to the House from Pelosi’s office, they only had 2 hours to read it. How many people actually did read it. This bill contains a lot more than just aid to Ukraine.

By simply asking for oversight on the spending of $40B?

“A generally useful Senator who in this case has no long term vision.”

What’s that “long term vision”? The money would be funneled back to democraps. They have been using Ukraine as a money laundering scheme for years.

Not putting an additional $40 Billion on the tax-payer's credit card helps middle-class Americans.

Besides, whatever President BrainDead et. al. are trying to hide in Ukraine needs to be revealed.

Rand Rules!
