Russia actually won two wars against Finland in the last century. The second time they begged to allow them to exist as a nation and were only allowed on conditions of neutrality.

OK. The Russians were welcomed into Finland with boquets.

Suggesting the Russians were able to accomplish anything in WWII without the help of America is silly. And even then, they could barely manage until we opened the other two fronts.

Good try.

NoseWanking (live from the Kremlin): Russia actually won two wars against Finland in the last century.

The Winter war:

Russian dead = 167,906 dead. Finnish dead = 25,904 dead

Net result = Finland stays independent, gives up Karelia
continuation war
Russian dead = 305,000. Finnish dead = 63,200 dead

Petsamo given up

Wow, so you Rooskies got pyrrhic "victories" and say "we won and they begged"

nah - the Finns kicked your Muscowite butt and won their independence from the Kremlin

You are correct, but this is more interesting.

Finland giving up its non-aligned status automatically invalidates the 1944 treaty and recreates the state of war between Finland and Russia (as USSR successor state).

But even without this factor, the effect on Finnish economy would be very significant, for obvious reasons.

So Finnish rationale for this act is not clear.

And now Finnish neutrality is over so what’s brave Tsarina Pidor Putin going to do about it?

Because there are right now US and NATO forces 160km away from St. Petersburg and armed USAF F-22 and F-35 fighters are patrolling the Baltic with our Swedish and Finnish allies.
