Russia warns of ‘military’ retaliation measures over Finland Nato application
Telegraph ^ | 12th May 2022 | Poppie Platt Marcus Parekh Grace Millimaci

Russia has warned that it will have to take “military-technical” steps in response to Finland’s application to join Nato.

The foreign ministry accused the military alliance of seeking to create “another flank for the military threat to our country”.

“Helsinki should be aware of its responsibility and the consequences of such a move,” the ministry added.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: “The expansion of Nato and the approach of the alliance to our borders does not make the world and our continent more stable and secure”.

When asked whether Finland’s accession to the military alliance would be considered a threat toward Russia, Peskov answered: “Definitely”.

Earlier on Thursday, Finnish leaders said they were in favour of joining Nato and a formal decision would be made this weekend.

Finland, which shares an 810 mile border and a difficult past with Russia, has gradually stepped up its cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as a partner since Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.

NoseWanking Finland lost wars to Russia

Okay, then Japan and Germany won the war too. They kicked ass and remained as the countries.

Japan and Germany were the aggressors that, along with Russia, started world war two

.

Japan and Germany were utterly defeated and conquered - they lost their independence and came back as new states

.

.

This is unlike your Russian failures at war

Folks who wouldn’t believe a word off network tv or the biden administration now are in lockstep.

And you taking the opposite action is playground illogic

Biden failed - and Putin took the opportunity to invade. That doesn't make Putin correct as you think.

btw, talking of Estonia, here's the PM of Estonia with the PM of Finland

More balls between them than the whole of the Russian Army.

Troll farm, Ivan?

You said you were in St. Petersburg, right? Or moved to the Kremlin?

Because Finland runs astraddle some of the most strategically sensitive areas of Russia, including St. Petersburg... is why... We would never tolerate being encircled by Russia... why you and your paid Soros bots on here choose to ignore that, says a lot about your motives here. You want to destroy the USA, not oppose Russia.

Why do you always miss the Polish-German endeavor in Czechoslovakia?
As for the rest of your arguments, how do they compute with your previous post?
Finland BTW was a German ally too and IT LOST THE WAR.

Russia has a right to self defense.

So you think Putin invading a weaker neighbor is "self-defense"?

Then you talk about Iraq - no, that wasn't "self-defense"

This is what Putin’s democracy looks like

One dictator - Putie - in power for 22 years

Oligarchs feeding off the population

One of the most corrupt nations in the world.

Ukraine is also corrupt - but not as bad as Russia AND it is improving.. Ukraine is not a clean democracy but it IS improving.

So you have Russia sliding backwards into despotism and Ukraine crawling out of corruption and you prefer Russia?

IvanPreston Hypocrite -- so you think that you are hypocritical for calling out Ukraine as corrupt, but not doing the same for Putin's regime?

EStonia is closer to St. Petersburg

Furthermore, Finland is an independent country and would have remained separate from NATO if not for Putin's invasion of ukraine

So go blame Putin

Jim,

Can we ban the obvious Kremlin bot, for almost the entire last two years their entire comment history has been how everyone in the world is wrong about Russia and everything said negative about Russia is lies with little or nothing else to add to the conversation. 10-20 times a day for just shy of 2 full years.

“We are treating a massively armed world power as if they were some tinpot dictatorship.”

More like Russia is acting as if they can still bully the whole world when they can’t even manage an invasion of the Ukraine. And it’s not working very well.

You like censorship a lot, don’t you? Is it easier to lie when nobody is objecting or what?
Maybe you better bring some legit arguments at last?

I guess you missed that keyword ‘encircled.’ It mean something. Estonia couldn’t encircle a mouse...

“I think we did just as badly in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Oh sure. In both wars we had captured the capitals and deposed the governments within 2 weeks.

Russian tried that and failed, and then retreated and are stuck fighting trench warfare near the borders 10 weeks later. And they still don’t have air superiority. And two of their best capital ships have been sunk.

So comparable.

That then makes the EU a potential military threat to the US in the future

That's nuts. You actually worry about the EU being a military threat to the US?

Better for the EU to be beholden to the USA militarily.

That's economically moronic. You eff'n pay for it. We have inflation because we spend money that we do not have. We need to cut ALL government spending. That includes the military. Cut the green crap. Cut the woke spending. Get back to basics and focus on our ability to kill and break things. That's all. No more nation building. No more humanitarian missions. Just money to kill and break things. DoD's budget can be slashed. The actual effect will not be a weaker military, but a stronger military because ALL tax dollars to the military should be focused on things that a produce brutal, overwhelming, killing and destroying machine. Toss out the woke generals. Get rid of the faggots. Dump the trans whatever they are. Get real men that are trained to fight. FOCUS on the mission.

I don’t worry about that. it is a “potential” - if the EU is allowed to go on its own. Unless the USA puts the same number of close cooperation as with the UK

Brellium - in my opinion we should let NorseViking stay. He’s exposed himself as the voice of St. Petersburg.

This enables us to know what the Kremlin is pushing.

And the Russians, in that retarded way that they have, insist on maintaining unfriendly relations with ancient neighbors that “straddle strategically sensitive areas”, issuing routine threats and warnings as their principal interaction with anyone on their borders. Reflexive hostility is the principal Russian response to anything.

Russia cannot seem to see any independent country as anything but a threat. It is self destructive paranoia. It creates hate and fear among other people, for no good reason.

This crippling psychology of the Russian people has been holding the country back for many centuries, in both internal and external affairs.
