Ukrainian counter-attack drives Russian troops back to their own border near Kharkiv as Kyiv shuts off pipeline carrying up to a THIRD of Russia's gas into Europe

Ukraine has driven Russian troops back to their own border near Kharkiv and now threatens supply lines into Donbas as Putin's army suffers another humiliating loss.

Commanders said late Tuesday they had recaptured four small towns to the north of Ukraine's second-largest city, with reports overnight suggesting they had pushed to within three miles of the Russian border.

If confirmed, it would put the city of Vovchans'k - a key supply hub linking Russia's Belgorod to its frontlines in Donbas - within artillery range, threatening to cut supply lines and hamper Putin's efforts to take the region.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's gas pipe operator announced that it will cut off a supply hub in a Russian-controlled part of Donbas which transports up to a third of its gas into Europe, starting today.

It marks the first time that pipelines carrying gas - the lifeblood of Russia's economy and vital source of funding for its military - have been affected by the war, which has now been grinding on for more than two months.

Gazprom, Russia's energy supplier, confirmed that the rate of gas flowing into Europe had fallen by around a quarter after supplies through the pipeline that Ukraine had threatened to cut fell to zero.

Actually, they are. This last $40 billion is through the lend-lease program. That means it’s not a gift and Ukraine is on the hook for it, with interest I’m sure. England just finished paying off their loans from WWII in 2006.

And the EU just arranged to receive a loan of $50 billion to help pay for this military operation, from whom is anyone’s guess. This war is turning out to be very costly for everyone, which is another reason they need to stop fighting.

And that makes Russia, the CCP, Iran, and the rest of those who support Russia the good guys by definition. Hope you like who's on your team.

I’ll join one hand with anyone kicking Russian ass, and the other one is pointing a middle finger at any nutcase who thinks the Russians aren’t the bad guys here.

ALL of NATOs members are NON-states, according to Putlim.

And this is EXACTLY what he told the world on the eve of his invasion.

There can be NO treaty that does not address Putin specifically renouncing his laughably egregious, stale-ass, sophomoric, take-your-deranged-Communifesto-and-shove-it-right-in-your-pootie-pipe:

"In view of the historical destiny of Russia and its peoples, the Leninist principles of state-building were not only a mistake, but far worse than a mistake. After the collapse of the USSR in 1991 this became absolutely obvious.

Of course, the events of the past cannot be changed, but we must at least speak about them directly and honestly, without reservations and without political coloration. I can only add that the considerations of the current political conjuncture, however spectacular and advantageous they may seem at a given moment, should not or cannot under any circumstances form the basis for the fundamental principles of statehood.

This is neither the time nor the place to discuss issues of state or constitutional law and to define the concept of citizenship. Nevertheless, the question arises: why did the country have to be shaken even further under these already difficult circumstances?"

Putin said it out loud, in black and white, and laid down a permanent marker: "You -- the Ukraine, Latvia, ALL NATO members, have no 'state', you have no "national sovereignty", and you have no 'citizenship' -- other than what I grant you of all of those 3 -- so, I'm going to Kiev (to get my ass kicked)".

Oh yes, Latvia was so much better off when. It was being occupied involuntarily by Russian troops whom it never wanted in the first place.

Makes you wonder why, if it is so horrible to belong to NATO, Sweden and Finland decide to join.

Unlike how the Soviet Union treated Hungary and Czechoslovakia when they tried to leave the Warsaw Pact in 1956 and 1968, when France asked for NATO troops to be withdrawn from France in 1966, we just...left.

One of these things is not like the other.

All praises to Brandon, visionary leader of the free world!

It was his farsighted warnings to the European Union of Putin’s impending attack! It was he that led the EU to organize it’s covert resistance. It was brandon that poured billions into the proxy war effort!

Ukrainian troops have just entered Russian territory outside Belgorod. Pedo Putin is in a panic and having to divert troops to stop the Ukrainian advance.

Agreed. Sadly, Free Republic has a more sizable than desired contingent of Putinistas who cloak their love for him in statements such as “It’s the US’s fault that Russia did this” or the good ‘ol “It’s not our fight”, the latter of which was mouthed by many pro-Nazi sympathizers in the US prior to WWII.

“...We aren’t getting a true view of the war...”

I’m getting a true view of the war from my family and friends in the Ukraine. You are joining with Obama’s man. The same Putin that Obama made promises of “flexibility”. Biden is cancelling the most needed weapon systems. Biden is slow walking aid.

Russians have more of a reason to be Ukraine than the US does. Hey, maybe all other countries should get out.

I guess it would be OK for Russia to invade the United States as well? Since we’re arguably also owned by globalist gangsters at present.

Actually, the USA has been under globalist gangster ownership starting at one minute past noon on Jan. 20, 1989.

P.S. That was a pathetically lame response.
