canceling days off, in anticipation of a tough Memorial Day weekend????
They expect too much celebration over the weekend???
Maybe they historically have Memorial Day weekend mobs of visitors to the Field Museum and the Art Institute, and things get out of hand???
As people leave and are otherwise killed off, all the city functions can be scaled back.
Numbers are meaningless unless they have the total police force number.
The time and place has come for a new version of Robocop!
I went to the Field Museum once and when I came out I had an overwhelming desire to go to the Miracle Mile district and break windows, steal things and throw Molotov cocktails.
The CPD had somewhere around 12,000 officers a few years ago, so this net outflow of 1568 cops represents about a 13% reduction in force. Way to go, Groot!
That ugly mayor is a true beast.
If they have no cops, let them use social workers.....Marie Anntonette
All the ferals listened to the idiot Mayor and will be taking up arms. The fact they’ll be using them against each other is of no consequence to her.

Wiki says Chicago PD has about 12,000 officers.
When 8% of your force leaves in ten months of one year and nobody wants to work for you, then you’ve got serious problems.
Note that, if you annualize the loss, it is 9.5% of the police officer force. That is serious attrition and only 51 replacements joined. I’d wager they had to really lower standards to attract those 51, too.
Ultra stupid mayor has consequences...
Let Mayor Fisheyes get out there and do some work.
The additional workload of trying to train some of the few recruits while being understaffed is only going to make it worse.
Expect Chicago to hire replacements like the ignorant and unqualified Somali cop in Minneapolis who, while on duty, murdered the Australian woman Justine Diamond.
There are too many places down South and other areas that love and support cops for anyone to stay in that rat hole.
Why can’t Lightfoot Moonbat just go out on the streets to calm all of her people down?
Across the street from the Art Institute is a sign noting the start of Route 66.
Sign is on a 30 foot pole.
Folks kept steeling it when it was on a normal 8 foot pole.
66 ends at the Santa Monica Pier.
