Electric car fail: More than 25% of charging stations in deep blue region do not work

President Joe Biden and his administration have attempted to convince Americans that electric vehicles will solve all of our problems, but a new study found one leftist city was vastly unprepared for a complete switch to electric vehicles.

The study was led by retired University of California, Berkeley, bioengineering professor David Rempel working with volunteers from the nonprofit organization Cool the Earth, according to Fox Business. It took place between Feb. 12 and March 7.

Researchers cited multiple complaints from electric vehicle owners about charging stations in the area as the motivation for the study. It assessed 657 electric vehicle charging plugs at 181 public stations in nine counties around the deep-blue, Democrat-dominated San Francisco Bay Area.

Rempel and the other volunteers drove electric vehicles to the charging stations and plugged them for two minutes to test the charger's functionality. Tesla charging stations were not evaluated in the study.

Of the 657 plugs studied, only 72.5 percent were fully functioning at the time of the assessment. Meanwhile, 22.7 percent were not functioning correctly, and another 4.9 of the charging cords were too short to reach the plug-in on the vehicle.

Hmmmm. Well, I have noiced gas pumps not being on line from time to time. But, not in that kind of percentage. Anyone have an adapter developed yet so EVers can use any charging station?

Lots of copper in the charging cable.

And no fear of arrest.

A bird hit the kite...and poof...the kite and the key fell to the ground...and Biden said it was Russia’s fault.

Gas pumps get inspected and calibrated.

Sounds like they need to inspect electric charging stations as well.

You’re on your last few watts...you drift into a recharging station...pull up to a charging stand...and...

Have homeless people in SF figured out some way to use them as toilets, or to get high?

The main issue is having high enough amperage capability available at the location where the charging station is going to be placed. New car dealers are finding out this is an issue when they are trying to install charging stations to support their EVs they’re selling. The power companies are telling them there’s not enough amperage to support you.

Good point. The reason that wouldn’t happen to gas pumps is because people use gas pumps. I suspect there are way more charging stations than are needed for demand. They were over-produced and so if 25% break, there is no reason or economic incentive to fix them.

Or, just pull around to the other bank of gas pumps under the same station canopy. You might have to wait five minutes for the guy that’s already there to finish...not an hour.

Do gas stations still have to keep a verfied and certified 5gal. gas can on hand?
NYC used to require service stations to produce one on demand in order for inspectors to check pump calibration

Tesla charging stations were not evaluated in the study.

No problem...just open your trunk and there it is...a can of electricity for emergencies.

Or you can wait for some other sucker to show up and hope he has a deck of cards and a case of beer.

Should be auto checks since they’re pulling the electric from a known.

I don’t know. I would have thought inspectors would bring their own.

"Should be auto checks since they’re pulling the electric from a known."

The article claims the charging stations were tested and are faulty, not the autos.
