This New Post-Supreme Court Roe v. Wade Leak Poll Should Terrify Democrats
PJ Media ^ | 05/10/2022 | Paula Bolyard

A new CNN poll should have Democrats quaking in their boots as they contemplate their strategy for the 2022 midterms. The poll, conducted after the leak of the Supreme Court draft opinion showing a majority of justices favoring rolling back Roe v. Wade, suggests that the overwrought responses from Democrats may not move the needle on Election Day as they’d hoped it would.

The study, conducted May 3-5, sampled 800 adult registered voters with about an equal number of Democrats, Republicans, and independents. If the congressional election were held today, 42% of respondents said they would vote for the Democrat nominee, with 49% favoring the Republican — a loss of two points for the Democrats and a gain of 4% for Republicans from the week prior. Reports of the demise of the Republican Party if Roe is overturned appear to be greatly exaggerated.

On the question of whether Roe should be overturned completely, 34% said it should be — an increase of four points since January — and 66% said no — down three points — suggesting that support for overturning the radical 1973 abortion decision is on the rise. There’s also been an increase in the number of voters who say they would be “Happy” if Roe were overturned and a reduction in the number who would feel “Angry.”

Asked whether they would want state lawmakers to ban abortion completely if Roe is overturned, the respondents were split fairly evenly, with 48% saying yes and 51% saying no (within the +/- 4.5 margin of error). Oddly enough, in light of support for overturning Roe, 89% want their states to become “a safe haven for women who want abortions,” whatever that means.

The Rats are invested in the ugliest side of humanity. To Hell with the Rats.

And despite the lack of coverage, today’s youth is moving away from abortion and towards adoption & support.

That’s fine but let’s face reality. The strong majority didn’t want Roe overturned. They just wanted restrictions on abortion.

I think they blew it.

Leaking this early, (IMO) has really nullifies any Midterm blow back.

There is NOT a massive response and uprising (as I am sure they predicted).

By the time SCOTUS releases the opinion. Most will have learned that this does NOT end abortion in the USA.

But merely pushes it to the states. And in Most, there will be NO change.

And, even worse for Dems, they control everything. if they were serious. They could propose a Roe replacement on the US level. And likely have something pass.

Or, if they were Super serious, propose a Constitutional Amendment.

For the incumbents running, the demonstrable lack of Pro-Choice Vitriol and action may be a a huge let down for the Rabid Leftists.

“Poll Question: Are you more concerned with abortion rights or the fact you can’t pay for food?” Sorry to say it, but right now lots of people are going hand-to-mouth, something they didn’t expect or prepare for and abortion is the last thing on their minds. As long as that’s the case, the federal abortion mandate collapses and the dems lose big time.

Polling shows the majority of the VOTING PUBLIC is Pro Life.

We don’t care what ABC.CBS or NBC says.

And by the way, the devastating poll results was reported by CNN.

Right but Democrats will play the Roe fiddle right into the midterms. I can only see that as negative for the GOP.

Fits my thinking the democrats have poor leadership right now and are a bit rudderless.

They still have party unity though, so there’s still likely to be a brilliant move in them somewhere or just dumb luck.

>> And likely have something pass.

Not sure about that. Manchin knows WV won’t tolerate a Roe alternative.

>> or propose a Constitutional Amendment.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the Rats aiming for a political death-wish.

Right, most people don’t care. Soooo, they’re attaching everything else they can think of to it to try to make enough people care.

“If Roe is removed, next is gay marriage! And then, INTERRACIAL MARRIAGE! AND THEN JIM CROW LAWS!”. And anything else that they can think of.

Do we know that for sure, perhaps most of the polls say that or we are told the polls say that but is it really true.

Rush Limbaugh use to say, polls are used to drive public opinion not a reflection of public opinion.

Most of these polls are run by liberals, naturally they will show liberal ideas are favored by the public.

If the questions are framed so that overturning Roe v. Wade means elimination of abortion, the polls may be true.

If the questions are framed that says they states will decide the issue of abortion the results might be totally different.

All I’m saying is let’s take polls for what they are, drivers of public opinion.

Despite indications that the opposite is actually taking place?

I have only seen a few ultra-violent and radical protestors against the court. Most are unreasoning and over the top with violent and often disgusting rhetoric and acting out. Under *normal* (pre-C19) conditions, this rabble-rousing might have worked in the Ds’ favor. But too much has happened in too many venues in too short a time.

People can see the calculations.

This kind of stuff begs the question; what’s going to happen when the democrats disqualify Trump from ever holding public office again and they also steal the Congressional midterms and the next presidential election? If the American people at large ever rise up to save our nation, the US military and federal law enforcement will immediately overpower and stop them.

What they give, they can take.

It can't be expressed any simpler than that.

The Left is right to be worried - because the Alito decision, at least as leaked, is justification to revers literally dozens of cases dating back to the 1940s where the Court basically made stuff up.

I suspect when the decision is announced the “Opinion of the Court” section will have been cut to focus solely on abortion so as not to create precedent to reverse Griggs v. Duke Power, Bakke v. Regents, etc.

Brown v. Board used made-up reasoning to gain an 8-0 margin and to avoid overturning Plessy.
