Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) said on Monday that it would extend its abortion and gender affirming care services for employees in the United States to include travel expense assistance.
Several companies, including Yelp Inc (YELP.N), Citigroup (C.N), Levi Strauss & Co (LEVI.N), and Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O), have already pledged to cover costs for American employees who need to travel out of state for an abortion. read more
Some major employers, such as Walmart Inc (WMT.N) and Target Corp (TGT.N), have not weighed in since the leak to Politico last week of a Supreme Court draft opinion that would overturn its 1973 decision legalizing abortion nationwide. read more
The issue has gained urgency now that 31 states have introduced abortion bans this year, according to policy analysis by research group Guttmacher Institute.
Microsoft will "continue to do everything we can under the law to protect our employees' rights and support employees" in accessing critical healthcare, which includes services like abortion and gender-affirming care, in the United States, a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement to Reuters.

The author didn’t mention the Hero/Chanpion/Lord of Free Speech/Immortal Elon Musk. He’s doing the same thing.

For some reason it seemed like so many were touting him and him buying Twitter as some sign of his conservative ideology. My bad.
Once again it’s our army of volunteer adoptive parents. Where are they? Waiting for the final decision? The left is down. We should pounce like they would. For them it’s about November and an issue that’s not #1 in the voters minds.
I’m wondering where the billionaires are that could jump start the idea. They don’t even have to be pro-life, just be there for the girls in trouble.
31 states have introduced abortion bans this year
Hmmmmmm…….could that mean that 31 states are controlled, to some level if not completely, by Republicans. If so, imagine what could happen if they united and stood shoulder to shoulder against Cornpop and his puppet masters.
This country would change over night. But, among that 31 are too many RINO POSs like Kemp and Hutchinson for that to happen
Its most likely cheaper to provide funds for an abortion than to give the woman and possibly a man months of maternity leave. This effort wears the cloak of generosity but underneath beats the heart of greed.
So WH doesn’t Microsoft just move to where abortion is legal?
Everyone knew Musk is not and never will be a conservative. He is a quirky free spirit who is also a genius. You can admire him and what he has accomplished but don’t depend on him, that’s not his purpose.
IMHO the states that ban abortion should have a law forcing the biological "parents" to pay child support to the foster parents/orphanage who raise the kid. That'll not only help fund the child raising, it'll also be a disincentive to the baby makers.
That's always been the rub with me regarding abortion: the "parents" making the decision to make the baby were never the ones aborted, just they kept making more babies. Abortion removed the natural consequences of the decision to make the baby. Child support puts some of cost back where it belongs -- onto the "parents" who make the baby with no intention of raising her.
Some day scientists are going to figure out what causes pregnancy and how to avoid it, so we don’t have to constantly talk about abortion
Some countries have very low age of consent laws, and people have been arrested when they travel to those countries to partake in illicit sex. By the same logic, could not a state make it illegal for one of their citizens to travel to another state in order to do something that’s illegal in their home state?
Also, when the kids misbehave in schools put the parents in detention WITH THEM.
VIDEO in all classrooms.
Show these feral kids jumping on desks and throwing papers (and worse) all day to their parents.
Why would you call him a genius?
I don’t hate him or love him. But he isn’t a genius.
He didn’t invent Tesla. He invested in it. But I will give him credit for being smart enough to convince dim witted and greedy politicians to shower the rich with tax breaks for his cars back in the day.
Would it not be cheaper to have sessions on Birth Control and all the alternatives rather than waiting and paying for abortions? Or does that make too much sense?
There are quite a number of birth control methods out there to use, men and women, and much cheaper to have prevention of unwanted pregnancies rather going to the expense of paying for a a out of state abortion.
I can see abortion services opening within Riverboat Casinos and Indian Reservations.
I wonder if anyone has asked these companies if they cover expenses for other employees who have to travel for other health care? Things like, say, transplants, advanced surgeries, and other advanced treatments not readily available everywhere?
If they aren’t covering the costs for those employees, without complaint or questions, then aren’t they denying those employees health equity or something along those lines?
That’s in Microsoft’s interests, but not its employees.
Indeed it’s why every employee at Microsoft is a temp.
Then he’s a genius because he invested in it, and SpaceX, and Star Link. He sees things others don’t see. He’s a genius
Can't have that, y'know!
Discriminatory.
He’s not a conservative. To his credit, he’s never said he was. He’s just not as evil as most of the left.
To me, he’s kind of like Bill Maher. Sometimes he makes a lot of sense and other times, he sounds a lot like *one of them.*
