They target Alexandria bc of easy access to Beltway and the bridge to MD (PG) / DC (SE).
Carjackings and thefts are up there, as well as in Crystal City, VA, which also feeds straight to a DC bridge.

That’s what I’m working on too. And given the markups in eyeglasses (and frames), I suspect the loss there is closer to $500 for the frames, and probably a few thousand to repair the damage done to the displays.
Still...they are going to feel like idiots when their fence offers them $20 or something.
Heck, it seems so pointless, I’d actually start suspecting insurance fraud. Pay a couple of homies to tear the place up, and BOOM “$50000 in losses, oh my!”

But it is obvious that this level of lawlessness cannot continue forever. Either we get it under control or we make it physically more difficult for the thieves to do this. In Costa Rica only a few customers are let into a bank at a time and the armed guard inside is watching you closely. Homes are built like fortresses with walls, fences, gates, razor wire, etc. and businesses with high value wares are defended like banks are; obvious armed guards inside and out. Even little convince stores have a big guy at the door to let you in.
