The victory of JD Vance in the raucous Ohio GOP senate primary sets the tone for a midterm success that will include a larger number of unique, independent and successful candidates who will win their races due to their own abilities and association with Donald Trump, and not because of their fealty to Washington, Republicans or the support from major corporations. In fact, a growing number of these successful candidates ran against the traditional national powers. When they come to the Capitol they will comprise the first Republican majority wholly independent of the normal elite power structures.
This could be the most exciting aspect of this year’s Big Red Wave -- victorious candidates who are healthy from giving up the junk food of corporate PAC checks and the largess of most of the big money players who usually finance establishment Republican victories and the resulting carefully constructed caution that always follows. Corporate America has bet on the Democratic Party before, but that former Democratic Party was never this extreme nor opposed to basic pro-business policies.

This could be the most enduring legacy of the Trump years. It is not so much that he drained the swamp, he just exposed it. It could also be argued that Trump finished the job of breaking down Washington that Reagan started 50 years ago.

Hopeful!
The great thing that some are missing is, it wasn’t one conservative against a million rinos and lefties...it was several conservatives all competing to see who can be closest to Trump. Very refreshing.
Sounds nice, but I remember the excitement of the 2010 or so Tea Party class, and the only one of them that turned out to be worth a damn was Rand Paul.
remove the elephant and replace with Trump’s head so the RINOS will get their panties in a twist
Still a lot of work to do.
Matt Schlapp = old school GOP back room deal guy
AND it shows Trump doesn’t hold political grudges.
Vance was an early Trump hater.
Does Schlapp understand and acknowledge that 2020 was stolen?
If not he is just another enemy in disguise.
The new ultraleftist, Hollywood-controlled GOP.
Remember when Glenn Youngkin won, and Rich Lowry and the GOP Establishment said it was a bad night for Trump?
No, he seems to prefer Trump haters.
I will just say one step at a time. This is a good first step.
They didn't have Trump in 2010. It was a great grass-roots movement, but no fearless personality like Trump to lead it.
THIS is what the Democrats fear the most!
Not the Mid-Terms!
If all of their embedded RINO spies are ousted in the primaries this summer and replaced with MAGA people (especially in the state legislatures), then the Dems can no longer steal elections.
The other Tea Party wave Senator from Florida needs to be replaced BEFORE the rejoins his Amnesty Gang.
I think Tea Party wasn’t nearly as strong a message as America First.
Plus, the Tea Party didn’t have a leader like Trump.
My guess is that if guys like Oz and Vance had gotten swept in with the Tea Party wave back then, they probably would have turned RINO as soon as they arrived at the DC swamp.
But the America First MAGA movement is different - things are not going well for RINOs who go against Trump. Trump’s popularity is through the roof - absolutely unprecedented for a POTUS to keep such a strong following after after leaving office.
Even if Vance and Oz turn out to be spineless - they are likely to stand with Trump - out of fear if nothing else.
No - it proves the GOP can be purged 🤪
Carry on!
“...win their races due to their own abilities and association with Donald Trump, and not because of their fealty to Washington, Republicans or the support from major corporations.”
Bears repeating.
Let’s hope
The Tea Party became a grifter society. The Best thing about MAGA is Trump doesn’t need the money.
