Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. said Tuesday that the leaked draft opinion proposing to overturn Roe v. Wade is authentic but not final, and that he is opening an investigation into how it became public.
“To the extent this betrayal of the confidences of the Court was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not succeed,” Roberts said. “The work of the Court will not be affected in any way.”
While Roberts’s statement said the draft provided to Politico was genuine, “it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case.”

Roberts’s news release was another extraordinary deviation from the court’s normal procedures, which generally entails paying no attention to outside influences. It was a sign that Roe v. Wade is too important, and the breach of Supreme Court operations too monumental, to ignore.

Agreed, but the canonical answer to that question is ‘No, your Honor, I’m trying to conceal it.’
What I would do (therefore it would never happen) All Justices and Clerks and anyone else whom would have access to this opinion get squirreled away in a room. The Justices inform all attending that the person responsible for the leak has two hours to come forward. If those responsible do not, then Roberts suspends this session of the court. Fire all Staff / Clerks. They will be ruined from any meaningful Law career outside of a Public Defender. I suspect those responsible will fall on their sword at that point.
Now if it was a deep state computer hack or one of the Justices themselves..... we probably will never know.

IMO the Progressives probably had the document for some time and released it at THIS time to coincide with the election primaries and campaigns. Quite a few probably knew something to coordinate their efforts. Protesters appear with pre-printed signs and go ape on cue. Primaries are today! Too convenient.

This is about pressuring one of the justices in the majority to change their vote.
The leak was an attack on the Supreme Court; and an attack is an insurrection.
Suspects must be jailed and held without bail.

the LEFT had 2 cases affirming the right to an abortion. shouldnt they be trying to keep any abortion case away from the supreme court. why go for a rematch after you have won.
