Responding to the Monday night leak of a draft majority opinion that, if adopted, would overturn Roe v. Wade, Republican Senator Susan Collins accused Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch of reneging on commitments they allegedly made ahead of their respective confirmations.
“If this leaked draft opinion is the final decision and this reporting is accurate, it would be completely inconsistent with what Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh said in their hearings and in our meetings,” Collins wrote. “Obviously, we won’t know each Justice’s decision and reasoning until the Supreme Court officially announces its opinion in this case.”

That’s all the left knows and they’ll play it to death.
An ethical supreme court judge will not announce how they would rule on future cases. Thus, I doubt what Susan RINO Collins says.
Asking the justices to take a stand on how to decide a case not yet before them is foolish. The Senators asking such questions and demanding such a commitment during the confirmation procedure are just grand-standing, and are clueless when it comes to the judicial process.
Collins was a Republican because it helped her get elected and re-elected. Now that so many lefties have moved into Maine she’s just shifted over to the dem side primarily to help herself. She’s the perfect establishment Republican, doing and saying whatever is necessary to be elected. No values, stands for nothing except herself.
Collins will always wait for whoever can pay her most - she loves to pit the two parties over her vote to get the highest bidder. She gets paid also to take the bacon home.
Yeah well Obama said he was against gay marriage. A lot of you libs did.
“Senator Susan Collins accused Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch of reneging on commitments they allegedly made ahead of their respective confirmations.”
Where did they make such commitments? Not aware of any?
I’m not certain this leaked stuff is worth sweating over.
They may have several different opiniona out there at one
time, allowing for review to see how the justices like the
implications of what they read.
They may for instance have liked a ruling denying abortion
as a right, but reading an opinion expressing that may
flesh out their true feelings. They may realize they don’t
like the implications, they thought they would.
This has been leaked to sway the vote in November. It is
a transparent attempt by the Left to steal another
election. It may be based on a thinly veiled lie, the
implication of which is completely false.
That’s the Left, in all its inglorious nature.
I do not believe either man made any such commitment. I think what she is saying is not the truth.
Liberal women want to keep their special murder power.
There, fixed it for ya.
No need to fix.
No need to fix.
So you're saying conservative women murder their babies too? That's strange, I thought being pro-life was a requirement for joining FR.
You cant read for anything. I said they like having that special right/power.
Your reading comprehension sucks because you read like an hyper-emotional toddler.
Justices of the Supreme Court do not report to individual Senators, nor to the Senate as a body.
I said they like having that special right/power.
And do you have any evidence that female Freepers like having the power of abortion? Or am I just supposed to take your word for it?
I have quite a bit of a problem with the judicial ethics of a Supreme Court Justice promising ANYONE, much less a politician, a vote in a certain way PRIOR to the case even being heard on the merits.
If Roberts and/or anyone else did so, then they must be removed from the bench.
If a commitment was made on Robert’s part, what was the consideration on Collins’ part? What was the Quid Pro Quo?
I dont care what you do.
Finally, someone who understands the MO. The leak is not about influencing the mid-term election; its about influencing two justices and politicizing the SCOTUS.
