2022 midterms: What to know about Ohio, Indiana primaries (tomorrow!)

The first multistate contest of the 2022 midterm election season unfolds on Tuesday, as Ohio voters pick nominees for governor and the U.S. Senate while Indiana voters consider whether their Legislature should become even more conservative.

The races, particularly in Ohio, could provide a fresh window into former President Donald Trump’s sway among the party faithful. He has been especially involved in Ohio’s Senate primary, which has been marred by Republican divisions, along with campaigns for the U.S. House and secretary of state.

For Democrats, a potential threat to incumbent U.S. Rep. Shontel Brown in Cleveland is of keen interest. Brown is locked in a rematch against progressive challenger Nina Turner, a former state senator and surrogate for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaigns. Turner is trying again after losing to Brown in last year’s special election.

Voting in Ohio comes against the backdrop of a chaotic and still unresolved redistricting battle.

What to watch as the Ohio and Indiana primaries unfold:

Trump (who I support) should have stayed out of the Ohio primaries. He has made some very big mistakes with trusting people....Barr for one.

Let us Ohio-ns, decide. I am very strongly OPPOSED to J D Vance. I do not trust the guy at all.

I have NO idea. My friends and neighbors feel the same way I do. It will be interesting.

I work at the polls each election ...have to be there by 5:45 am tomorrow. Yikes! Retired, so I am not used to getting up that early.

There are a lot of Anti-RINO candidates running for state legislative seats in Indiana tomorrow over matters like COVID mandates that Governor Holcomb and the other RINO’s imposed on the state.

Amen, AMEN, AMEN We who live here have watched Mandel through his terms as State Treasurer right up to today. He has a proven record as an elected official of being the Constitutional Conservative he says he is.

For a neckbearded San Francisco venture capitalist spending San Francisco $$$ to try to steal Ohio's Senate seat is downright offensive to this Ohioan.

I’m voting out 4 out of 5 members of my town council tomorrow. Can’t wait! There’s only one good guy currently serving.

I’m not an Ohioan, but this being a Senate race I certainly have an interest.

Tucker Carlson did a brief pre-primary interview Vance tonight.

Tucker clearly supports him, which is okay.

But I have to admit my disappointment that he didn’t ask Vance about his politically expedient flip-flop on PDJT.
