Former President Donald Trump wanted to "shoot" demonstrators protesting the May 2020 police killing of George Floyd, according to a forthcoming book written by former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.
In June 2020, Trump became increasingly frustrated with the fury ignited by the death of Floyd while in custody of the Minneapolis police, Esper wrote in the book, "A Sacred Oath: Memoirs of a Secretary of Defense During Extraordinary Times," which is slated for release on May 10.

I really get tired of the BS “headlines” you constantly promote here on FR
If Trump admits it then so be it ... otherwise I don’t believe it. Trump can be misunderstood and the guy wants to sell a book, right?
Sacred oath??? To who? Soroz? Shwabb?
A number of innocent people, almost all of them black, died in these leftist riots. Trump was absolutely right. The US failed its duty to protect citizens because these were politically anointed riots.
I was for that as well. Because many of the “george floyd protesters” were burning and looting buildings and terrorizing citizens.
Violent domestic terrorists and criminals are “Demonstrators.”
I see. So he was asking permission from local governments to deploy national guard troops, and wherever he got that permission he ordered them to shoot down protesters? And wherever he was refused, protesters were not shot down, except by 17-year-old kids./s
Emphasis on the “demon” in “demonstrators”
Wasn’t just DJT. A whole lot of us out here in flyover country wanted the same thing...
That aside, though, if the context of such discussion was within larger dialog about alternative responses, then this is just more lefturd dog whistles.
If people are protesting peacefully, etc. they have a right to do that.
Once they started blocking roadways, burning cars and buildings, looting stores, assaulting people, shining lasers into the eyes of cops or pelting them with feces, urine, frozen bottles, bricks or worse, the level of force should have been stepped up to and including shooting people.
I just don’t understand how anyone in government can justify standing back (”giving them space”) to Burn, Loot, and Murder, but...they sure did rationalize that, even if wasn’t actually part of their plan.
If President Trump had said that shooting people who were burning buildings, assaulting citizens/police, and looting private business, that would be another reason for me to vote for him.
See:
This is all about the upcoming mid-term elections. They are trying to gaslight Republican candidates into distancing themselves from President Trump in order to drive a wedge between Trump and the incoming class of Republicans.
They want to break his base before 2024.

Darn Tootin!
Mark Milley was 10 in 1968 and Trump was 22. Pretty sure I know who had a better memory and understanding of it.
I read this heading and my first thought was “And why is this a bad thing?”
This guy was Trump’s Sec. of Defense?
I’m happy to hear that Trump entertained the notion of shooting the looters.
I note that this did not happen.
What is Esper’s point?
Esper is a back stabber.
Really? "Extraordinary times"?
Compaired to these times, the Trump era was a tea party.
Someone like Mark Esper would love for the J-6 Inquistion Group to call him in for questioning. He’s probably wondering why they haven’t already done so?
They don't waste their money. These books don't sell. The whole point is they are a bribe to get these people to lie.
Stops rioting and looting every time it’s tried. See Kent State.
