Unvaccinated people accounted for the overwhelming majority of deaths in the United States throughout much of the coronavirus pandemic. But that has changed in recent months, according to a Washington Post analysis....
The pandemic’s toll is no longer falling almost exclusively on those who chose not to or could not get shots, with vaccine protection waning over time and the elderly and immunocompromised — who are at greatest risk of succumbing to covid-19, even if vaccinated — having a harder time dodging increasingly contagious strains.
The vaccinated made up 42 percent of fatalities in January and February during the highly contagious omicron variant’s surge, compared with 23 percent of the dead in September, the peak of the delta wave, according to nationwide data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed by The Post. The data is based on the date of infection and limited to a sampling of cases in which vaccination status was known.
*** A key explanation for the rise in deaths among the vaccinated is that covid-19 fatalities are again concentrated among the elderly.
Nearly two-thirds of the people who died during the omicron surge were 75 and older, according to a Post analysis, compared with a third during the delta wave. Seniors are overwhelmingly immunized, but vaccines are less effective and their potency wanes over time in older age groups.
*** The bulk of vaccinated deaths are among people who did not get a booster shot, according to state data provided to The Post. In two of the states, California and Mississippi, three-quarters of the vaccinated senior citizens who died in January and February did not have booster doses. Regulators in recent weeks have authorized second booster doses for people over the age of 50, but administration of first booster doses has stagnated.

this virus has always been deadly to the elderly, and there was never a good reason to lockdown anyone under 50 much less close the schools.
Of course they omit the fact that the Vax was not out until January of last year. That would skew the results.

What a crock. When only a few people were vaccinated, of course more deaths were among the unvaccinated. More toothaches too. And more sprained ankles. And more Nobel peace prizes.
The unvaccinated were more affected by anything, because there were more unvaccinated.
Never has logic and statistical analysis been more stood on its head than in Covid times.
It is embarrassing to witness what people will accept as significant or conclusive when it’s not.
More fear porn. I’m elderly. Hubby and I live our life normally. We decided not to get the mRNA. We let our immune systems work and so far we’re good. No mask for us. No way! To each their own. No mandates. You don’t mask and quarantine otherwise healthy people. Period!
That, and also in the past 'they' (the Media, CDC/FDA, Medical authorities) have been flexible regarding the definition of "unvaccinated". E.g., if you received the shot, but died from the CoVid within 2 weeks of the shot, you were classified as 'unvaccinated'. Or if you died after two months of getting the shot, you were deemed 'unvaccinated'. Or you didn't get the 2nd shot. Or you didn't get the booster. Or you didn't get the second booster. Or if they didn't know whether, or not, you got the shot - you were deemed 'unvaccinated'.

A key explanation would be that the stabs killed most in the weeks after each stab—for which they set a new precedent by referring to such as deaths among the unstabbed.
1) The VAX got old, but it is propaganda of some bizarre sort to ignore that it did work when it was new — and against a virus that no longer exists, having been mutated away.
2) Boosters data (Israel) indicate they get old even faster than original vax. Against original strain you were pretty safe for 6-8 months. Now we face variants and a booster would provide protection for only a few more weeks
3) Recovered immunity is . . . was . . . inferior to vax only a month or two old. The study is available and clear.
4) If you’re under 65, you were not at risk of death whether you vaxed, or got infected and recovered. Relative youth decided protection far more so than vax or recovery from infection. Being young is powerful defense against death from the virus.
5) Being young doesn’t provide essentially any protection from infection or being a spreader. Neither does a vaxed young person after just a few weeks.
6) The young think of the old people as being the only ones at risk. But they are making an error. Life expectancy. We lost 1.8 years of life expectancy to the last 2 yrs of virus. A newborn baby can only expect 76.6 yrs now, and the ugliest part of that is it is 5 yrs fewer than other developed countries who locked down or didn’t lock down equivalently.
7) Essentially all elderly have comorbidities. It comes from getting old. Fully 77% of over 65 have hypertension, the #2 comorbidity among Covid deaths. That % rises even more with age. The #1 comorbitity was Dementia. And those who want to blame the old for getting fat? Obesity was down the list as the #6 comorbidity. Behind five others.
It never was.

I don’t understand you question/response. Maybe I am dense. Wouldn’t be the first time.
We might get better at manufacturing vaccines once we learn more about the virus. But maybe not. If that’s the case, we’ll have to tell our population that covid will take you out when you get old and modern medicine can only do so much at that point. And we haven’t had that conversation yet.
