MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell decried the upper chamber of Congress as "anti-democratic" during his appearance Thursday on "The ReidOut."
Host Joy Reid led to the topic of the Senate by discussing whether the United States is "governable" as a country based on "a system designed by European men who certainly never envisioned racial and gender equality or the kind of diversity that we have today or that anyone not like them would share power in this country."

didnt i just read that reid’s ratings were in the toilet
something like a 70 percent drop
So the allocation of Senators can never change.
... driven from our ancestral homeland, fleeing a campaign of ethnic cleansing? That's crazy talk.
“All I can say is what a country we have. Where a certifiable idiot gets her own cable TV show.”
Well, I don’t think that’s much to brag about.
I would much prefer a country where idiots like her would be treated as idiots and not made into TV stars.
No, we ARE a Democracy. Our form of Democracy is a representative republic with checks and balances (such as the Senate) so that we do NOT HAVE a direct democracy. History has proven that direct democracies will eventually lead to totalitarianism. Democracies come in many forms and I am grateful for the one we have and are trying to preserve.
Larry WHO?
We are a Federal Republic regardless of how our Representation is elected.
We became closer to a “pure” Democracy when they stupidly allowed the direct election of Senators.
He’s welcome to immigrate to a parliamentary system country!
The Senate is to represent the states corporately to the federal government that is as a single entity. “The people” of those states have their input through their state legislators. “The people” are represented directly from their respective districts by their congresscritters. Well, that was what the Founding Fathers intended until the US progressives of the late 19th century (Looking at Woodrow Wilson!) thought they were smarter, as we can see and experienced, they weren’t!
