The Russian military is furious that Putin has downsized the invasion of Ukraine and called for a new escalation of the conflict.
As the Kremlin's war effort stumbles against a dogged Ukrainian resistance, leading figures in the Red Army have reportedly begged Putin to take the country for good.
Military and pro-war Telegram channels are now flooded with calls to commit greater resources to Ukraine and 'fight NATO', according to Russian news agency Agenta.

Meanwhile Russian Air Force Telegram FighterBomber wrote to members: 'We’ll further increase air defense units on the border with Ukraine in order to cover our territory from ballistic missile strikes, but it is also clear that NATO countries have far more weapons than Russia.'

Russia is grinding down the Ukrainian military in Donbass. It has absolutely no chance of surviving unless it surrenders. The Russian flag is going up throughout the region and local currencies are being converted to rubles.
The only complaint in Russia is that Putin isn't destroying the Ukrainian army as fast as he could be in an effort to minimize causalities.
Ukraine will be a rump state after this is over and, probably, and landlocked rump state.

Humans are biologically tribal in nature. Modern society has been around for a very small amount of time. Just look at the behaviors in large cities vs very small towns. Even if a massive nuclear war occurred, there would be humans left alive, and we would propagate again.

I think it is a safe bet that there will not be a nuclear war. What I can see however is a nuke going off in Ukraine and Russia claiming it was a nuke that was never accounted for when Ukraine gave up theirs and someone must have tried to turn it into a working bomb. And failed miserably.

Well then... Why don’t you just do what every sh*thole 3rd world military does and depose him? Bomb the presidential palace (check that, your “air force” would probably miss).
I could say the reverse is true also. Almost two weeks of new offensive and the Russians have advanced a few kilometers at a very heavy cost. Most of their gains were in a pocket of the Luhansk oblast east of Izyum between two rivers that the Ukrainians had lightly defended. Now they're fighting against multiple lines of defense in depth in Donetsk.
Meanwhile the Ukrainians stopped conscription a few days ago because they had enough volunteers, and many of the troops who joined after the war started should be trained and equipped now. They also claim to be advancing toward Kherson.
Can the Russians win by cutting off the Donetsk salient and keeping Ukraine from cutting the land bridge to Crimea? Maybe, but it's too early to tell.
