Germany has agreed to send 50 anti-aircraft tanks to Ukraine to aid its fight against Russia, Berlin's defense ministry said, as the European Country continues to distance itself from its former anti-militarization policies.
Berlin for decades has maintained a strong stance against investing in its military and providing military assistance to other nations stemming from its involvement from the Second World War.
However, Russia's invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24 marked a "turning point" for Germany, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said.
Since the invasion, Germany has announced lethal weapons for Ukraine and an historic expansion to the country's defense spending of more than 2% of its gross domestic product...

Looks like the Russian ZSU-23 Gun from Viet Nam....
Upgraded with a TAR (target acquisition radar) on the back and what looks like a possible MMW (millimeter wave) TER (target engagement radar on the front between the guns.)
Putin, the master strategist, has managed the impossible: get Finland and Sweden to join NATO, and get NATO European countries to start actually paying their fair share or more of defense expenses.
Welcome to WW3.

Putin's choices are limited. He can either ramp up or cower.
If he cowers, he's dead meat. If he ramps up, his opposition ramps up.
And then it's rinse and repeat.
Putin will not cower under any condition.
He wants to live to spend his money and he doesn't want to tarnish his reputation as a tough guy.
It’s a hell of a lot faster reacting and training than the ZSU-23. The Gepard also could include Stinger missile launchers attached to the gun sponsons, but the Germans opted not to buy that option.

The Soviet/Russian counterpart, arguably more capable, is the 2K22 Tunguska.
The US has no counterpart.
It just keeps getting better and better.
That’s one nice looking flugabwehrkanonenpanzer.
I guess it would be cricket for Russia to return these tanks to Berlin from, let's say, 30,000 feet.
Just read Russia knocked out sub stations supplying power to the rail system.
Nothing will move by rail, for several days, in Ukraine
This crap would stop if Russia would simply take out the Biden/Clinton playground Government.
Gepard anti-aircraft tank with two 35-mm machine gun canons: Has it ever been tested in actual warfare?
Anyone supplying drugs or weapons into my community is enemy number one to hit, after the drug dealers/gang bangers.
Going to be shocked retard heads of state when this war hits home soil.
The poor pay, never the rich.
Why do they brag about sending this stuff? One of those big missles will be looking for the arrival.
This is great business for the weapons manufacturers. BIG WAR
Send yer old junk to Ukraine and get replacements from Uncle Sloppy Joe and his neocon war pimps.
The article doesn’t say whether the Ukrainians will paint over the German Iron Cross or take them as they are?
Here's another pic.
Not that I’m aware of. Does extremely well in complex live fire exercises, though. Part of why I said the same-idea-but-with-more-stuff Tunguska was arguably better - as the 2K22 series has been combat tested and between its missiles and the two AA autocannons it’s proven to be hell on wheels in the short range AA game.
The Germans mostly retired the Gepard from frontline service, though other nations still use it, in favor of missile-armed AA vehicles. On the other hand, there is renewed interest in the vehicle concept as a defense against drones.
The Germans are highly unlikely to get replacements from us.
